Late breakfast

Me: 'Do you want breakfast?'

Husband: 'I thought we were running.'

So, off we went. I was going to do Parkrun yesterday but a surprise wisdom tooth extraction on Friday (an appointment became available instead of me having to wait) put paid to that, as you aren't supposed to exercise for 24 hours after.

I'd kind of hoped my new shoes would be here by now but the Evri tracker says the parcel is 'On its way'. Maybe this will be the last run for my old shoes.

I set off a little bit too fast but that often happens if I've had a few days off. A couple of short walks were needed to bring my heart rate down as it wasn't a 'let's push it' day. We reached our 3k goal and were rewarded with the sight of a Thames barge with full regalia, part of the local sailing regatta.

That nice Mr Garmin shows my VO2 rising another point making me 14 years younger than my chronological age. NRC was generous too - badges for running 3x a week, plus 1k and 1 mile on a Sunday :)

Breakfast was worth waiting for!

Thanks. During breakfast I realised that my car is reaching the point where it needs replacing so I probably won't be able to afford any more new shoes ever again!!

Oh nooo, cars, like shoes, dont last forever, I have a little savings account that wasn't doing anything so every run I put £1 in it which goes towards shoes for running in 😁 it started as a bit of fun but its nice to see it build up

That's a good idea! Mind you, I've only done 44 runs this year so it'd only pay for one shoe😂

Many years ago my brother did a similar thing when he gave up smoking. Each day he'd put the price of a packet of cigs into a jar. After about 6 months he decided to treat himself to something, only to find that his wife had been using it as a useful source of spare change. He was so disillusioned he started smoking again (he's been given up now for many years, this was in the days when change was worth enough to be useful!)

Nice one! Definitely looking forward to something to eat after a run is really rewarding. Well done on another week 🎯✅
