Bit like the white rabbit in Alice, it’s week 4 of the quest and I’m late.....
I can't believe we are moving into the last week or August. Where does the time go? Oh it goes running
So what's everyone been doing? I've been reading posts and seeing progress and feeling happy for everyone who is running and able to run.
This week and the one coming my boss is on holiday and I am working very hard trying to make sure everything runs well, oh and some cooking as we still haven't got a cook.
If you want to look back at last week's quest here is the link.
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
Some popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is COMMENT BELOW with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............
Every week I will put up a new post and we can all chat about how we are doing.
I ran a very slow 10k on Saturday and a fast for me 2k on Sunday. For this week's quest I want to keep running and trying to get a bit faster. I shall continue with Strength and Flex too, the one legged standing is improving but not much.
Let us know what you are up to this week, it's not so hot and runs feel fresher. I'm hearing runners are eating blackberries which reminds me I need to climb the hills and find my special apple tree, they should be almost ripe.
In the photo the pier is there but looks a long way away, ran to it, round it and home again

Busy lady! But much more relaxed than the white rabbit I hope!I'm trundling along, fitting short, but satisfying runs in between my commutes across London to see my daughter and granddaughter, plus supporting a couple of friends in dire straits! Looking forward to more time to run! It will happen, but too busy to post regularly at the moment! Quest? Don't know about that - just to keep running somehow!
Hello SueAppleRun I hope work and your cooking goes well whilst your boss is away. My quests have gone very well in week 3:1) YES - run 3 times a week - did exactly that
2) YES - continue with garmin coach HM plan for event in November
3) YES - do at least 2 cross training sessions a week (one should be strength). Managed to play 2 netball matches, do 1 strength training, and swim twice
4) YES - do at least 2 parkruns - one should be completely new. I've done 3 parkruns so far this month, one of which as a first timer
5) SORT OF- have at least one rest day - did exercise everyday last week but one of my swims was quite leisurely - so does that count as a rest day?!
I have activities planned for every day this week so fingers crossed I can complete them
Hey you’ve done amazingly and yes a leisurely swim can be counted as rest 😊Have fun with this week before we wrap the month up and move towards September
I’m now back at home after a lovely (hot) week in Herefordshire. Not a good week to be so far away from the sea but it was so quiet there and slept so well.
My quest is
* Continue to increase distance each week
✅ I ran 9k yesterday so everything is going to plan for a 10k race in September
* Run 3 times a week (except during holiday week).
✅ Back on track again now. Runs consist of a parkrun, a long easy paced run, and a short fun Fartleks or hilly experience.
* Run at least 1 tourist parkrun
✅ I’ve managed 2 by visiting tourist events at the start and end of holidays
* Get back to weekly Pilates classes after holiday week
My place is booked this morning, so I hope this is a ✅ on next week’s post.
Hellooo! Well week4! How did that happen. And I am so late that I skipped week 3 altogether.
So how have I been doing:
✅ - I’ve ramped up rowing to hit the 40k this week as part of a indoor rowing challenge. I’m on track, having rowed 10k yesterday.
✅ - I’ve gotten back to running 5k as part of my NRC 5k plan
❌ - I’ve not managed to keep up with daily yoga (but am doing daily post run/row stretches of ca 15 min)
✅ - have moved my indoor-rower back to a now very tidy guest room and loving it! It’s becoming my beautiful workout room! (With a guest bed to do stretches on!)
I'm playing catch up too and really hoping to get a run in... at least one before the Quest ends!!!You've got your work out too ... ! I hope you get your runs in as well as all the jobs you have to do...
Ah, should be today for me, but I won’t be home til gone 4 and will be shattered, but tomorrow is a day off 😀😀😀 so anything could happen Hope the appointment goes well
My boss and my bosses boss are both off at the moment so I feel for you.
As for the Quest my NRC HM plan has stalled. My back still niggles and the shoulder is much the same. I need to knuckle down now with the pilates and shoulder exercises. Our guests left but a weekend away with mum got in the way as well.A nice but tiring and emotionally draining weekend, in a bittersweet way.
Dads name is on the side of the new all weather RNLI Wells lifeboat and we went down to see it where it has been built at the RNLI HQ at Poole Harbour. It's lovely that a little bit of Dad will be with the crew each time they go out on a shout
On the plus side I did manage to fit in an early morning run along the promenade from the front door of where we were staying. Pure bliss 😊
The new Wells all weather lifeboat RNLB Duke of Edinburgh at RNLI Poole Harbour
What a very special time you’ve had, must have been tiring both physically and emotionally, that run along the seafront another good memory, hope your back and shoulder are soon completely better
What a lovely thing to do in memory of your dad. I hope your back/shoulderimproves, but at least you're getting the odd run in! I'm full of aches and pains, nothing very specific, just because of all the rushing around and still relentless allotment watering, despite the recent rain! If I don't get an early morning run in, it still feels quite hot to be running later in the day! 🤗
Oh yes the relentless watering. We're so desperate for rain here in the SE aren't we.Sorry to hear about your aches and pains. As long as its nothing serious.
It's definitely too hot to run even after work, it takes a long time to cool down in the evening doesn't it? I enjoyed the few days by the coast with the refreshing sea breeze.
I'm glad we went to see the lifeboat before it moves to Norfolk. Dad would have been very proud to have his name on it.
Sorry about the back and shoulder, but the HM plan will be waiting for you if you decide to go back to it. The RNLI are a fantastic charity, what a lovely way to remember your Dad.
Hmm yes I can't decide about the HM plan. I think I will pick it up again at some point. The RNLI certainly have a fantastic place down in Poole and the visit was very well organised. I'm so glad we went
Well, I caught Covid about 10 days ago so that's put paid to my running. I suppose that there isn't any reason why I shouldn't still sign up for the local 10k but I want to wait and see how I feel once I start running again, probably next week.I'm actually feeling pretty much OK I just get tired from time to time. Maybe that's my age not the bug 😂
Yay for blackberries - I found a great spot on an evening walk and tipped off family. I need to go back myself (although uncomfortably aware that blackberry and apple crumble will not advance weight loss goals... not that anything much seems to be doing that!)
Not managed another run, so much gets in the way and would really like one a bit longer than the previous week.
HOWEVER I am keeping up with my goal of doing something every day. It's tough going so I am very pleased with myself!
Still on the Garmin 10km plan, though I was naughty and did skip two runs earlier this week. Next week it seems to be stepping things up with some really fast paced intervals. Eek!
I'm hoping to continue my run of running at least one HM per calendar month. The last one I did was on holiday at the start of July. My plan is to do one early on Sunday morning on the flat river banks of the Great Ouse.
