20 minutes run 20 minutes walk, Happyhays ran run 3 of week 6, I'm just trying to run slower so I can keep running longer, heart rate still high though so the next run must be slower still. The sea looked very tempting but I'm off to swim in a pool with granddaughter so a quick shower and off again. .
Happy Monday

I have to be pretty determined to run more slowly. I tell myself I’m going to do it, then it doesn’t happen! 🤣 I’m going up north again soon. Maybe I’ll force myself to run slower on an 8K run round the lake. Maybe try a longer run, it’s easier to slow it right down. 😊
Maybe too fast for you right now! If you slow down further for at least one run a week - you will see your pace improve. And it’s a joy to take those longer runs slowly and just enjoy the scenery without getting out of breath. If you find the right pace for that to happen you feel like you can run for miles 😊
🍏🤣🤣🤣I am laughing at you & every one who says they are battling to slow down!! Not a problem I have ever had!!! I battle to go faster than snail 🐌 getting better with the speed run coaches but oh so happy with snail on my long runs!! As coach Bennett says Run Easy everyone!!!
Granddaughter 's are very special, mine is 20 and needs a bit of time before starting her placement, so we swam today, haircut tomorrow, another swim thursday, friday i will sleep 😂
I listened to podcasts, especially dramas, to help me slow down and it worked. I now prefer that to listening to music while I run. My heart rate is still generally high but at least its no longer off the scale!
Thank you, ive been listening to podcasts at home, i might try one on a run and see what happens, at the moment im just disappeared in myself, i can run fast but not for long before i need walk breaks and i can run long but not without walk breaks, im going to try running as slow as i can to see how long i can keep running
That's a good idea, good luck.I did Couch25k during covid lockdown to get cardio exercise though I'd never run before as I always thought it wasn't a good idea with bad knees. However, I think modern thinking is that it's beneficial. I enjoy running (though its more a slow jog!) but have never attempted more than 5k as I didn't want to push my luck! I never walk as part of my 'running 5k' and know this is only possible because of my slow speed. I'm 70 now and want to continue as long as I can. I wear a heart monitor and my reading is always high but I'm now generally able to keep below my heart rate max of 150.
Thats flipping awesome, yes the advice regarding knees has changed a lot, in her early 60's my mum was told she had osteoarthritis in her knees and not to walk if she didnt have to, keep her weight off her feet. She spent the next 30 years mostly sitting and in pain. Now I'm 67 I want to keep running for as long as I can. Ive just run a very slow hour, no walk breaks and enjoyed it more than chasing speed, kept my heartrate around 150 😀
That's brilliant news, well done you!! So sorry to hear about your mum, I'm sure she'd be very proud of you. Thank goodness we know better now. Keep it up and keep smiling 😃.
