Well I’ve been procrastinating for 4 days now before attempting this run. “ I slept in and there are too many people in the way”, “ it’s really windy and I’ll struggle breathing”, “ I have no motivation at all!!”
But today I could put it off no longer and after dithering for about half an hour after I’d put my running gear on, and having “just one coffee before I go” off I went.
And as usual, as soon as I started I felt better, walking briskly down the road and then, after my warm up walk, off I went running a bit slower than usual as I wanted to make sure I could complete this run. I have struggled with some of my runs lately as I tend to set off too fast and burn out after a couple of k.
I went off down the Tarka Trail as usual. There are lots of lovely routes round here but I do tend to stick to the same one as I know the 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes markers. And also how far I need to go for 3k, 5k runs. Sad aren’t I? 🤣
Luckily the wind had dropped at last which made things a bit easier than lately. And running at 8.00mpk instead of 730-7.40 also made it easier today. Not so much pretty scenery to look at this morning after the storm but it was a really nice run...4K out and 4K back again. Running back to the start I did manage to speed up a fraction for the last couple of ks. And that’s the 8k run ticked off. 😃👌
(Looking forward to the 4K recovery run now and wishing my cheeks were not still red after 5 hours!!)
