Last Thursday I did a 35 minute run at 9 am. I had decided to try and push myself to gain more stamina. It didn't work and I ended up so hot I just couldn't cool down even after my shower. My cheeks were beetroot red and my head was pounding. Ended up with a migraine later. Park run on Saturday was a struggle too.Due to family commitments today was my first run this week so I decided to take it right back and do the NRC guided runs from the beginning. It's quite warm again this morning but with a nice breeze. I took it steady, obeying Coach Cody's instructions and actually feel more energised now. I've always been one to try and run before they can walk (don't like to be at the back of the pack 😅). So from now on I'm going to pace myself and not worry about the time or other stats my Garmin is vibrating with!
My home park run is cancelled on Saturday so I'm going to try another local one. Apparently it's flatter than Trentham but is an out and home so we'll see how it goes.

A lot of us are struggling in the heat-you’re in very good company there! Sorry about your migraine too. That’s miserable and I hope you’re fully recovered. Sending sympathy!
Surprisingly, you’ll gain stamina by just racking up the easy miles at a comfortable pace-you don’t need to run faster to get fitter. It will come with consistency and time. Speed runs and tempo runs have their place but even elite athletes run most of their miles easy. So glad you’ve come to the conclusion that pacing yourself is a good idea. Ignore that pesky garmin if it’s telling you unhelpful things!
The heat socks the energy out of you. Plus, you may have been dehydrated. Easy Miles are the aay to go, long, slow runs, breathing comfortably. Good luck on Saturday- you'll be there with fresh legs 🦵
I find it really difficult to run if it's hot. I struggle along, trying to visualise the sensation of sub zero temperatures and snow crunching beneath my feet 😁
