I ran the Regent's Park 5K a little while back and collected my second bit of bling. I found myself pulled along by the crowd at the start and ended up going faster than I normally do at the start. I think that, plus the heat of a sunny day, made this one a bit tough. I did run the entire race, though, so I was pleased for that.
My most recent 5K started slowly, as I like, on a grey day and I ended up running my best 1K, my best 1 mile, and my best 5K according to my Garmin. How about that...SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE!!!
I'm not going to tell the story of how I forgot to pack my trainers and had to go back home to get them and return...

Congratulations on a great race! I know there were pom poms waving for you over on Fun Beyond 10k…you might like to post over there too with how it went?
That is my famous, ( infamous ?) mantra on the forums and now you know it works!
As you take part in more events, which I am sure you will...you will become more at ease with your own pace and not get carried away in the first flush of excitement and enthusiasm; saving that energy for a wonderful final burst across the finish line
