Taking my canal back

A rainy run today as I decided that I was never going to recapture that long run magic if I wimped out and didn't put in the consistent 3 runs per week. Since it was raining I thought I'd try 'my' canal, which I haven't been near since lockdown as it is a popular walk for people in this area and it's usually impossible to socially distance on it. There were more people than I expected but not so many that I couldn't pass safely so it was lovely to get back to my green and watery run of choice. No records broken but 32 minutes in the legs.

So I'm now thinking that there is a real bonus to running in crap weather - you get more space to yourself!

And it helps you to keep cool.. I’m always too hot.. something to do with my age I think.. I’d choose cool and damp over warm and dry any day..😊

Me too on the weather front! And it’s my age as well! 🙄

Fab! Yes, big perk of rainy weather: empty routes!

Well done Fionamags 😆! Im so glad you enjoyed your canal run. I’m finding going out slightly later in the day helps avoid some of the walkers. 😊

I must bear that in mind as well.

🤣🤣Totally agree 👍

The other day I was out in absolutely pouring rain, this was dog walking not running and I only met one other person. We both commented on how nice it was to have the bridleway back to just us hardy souls 😂

It will be a relief when these folk all go back to their shopping 😄. Mind you - its good to see so many people being more active - a positive side of lockdown perhaps?

On my positive days I find myself thinking how good it is to see so many people out enjoying the countryside. Other days I'm cursing then all 😂

Ah yes, the joys of running in the rain...fewer people! It’s also one of the reasons I stray off the beaten track some times and end up trudging through mud!😂
