First run post Covid and I thought I’d head off to the running club and join in with a Week4, Run 1 couch to 5K run. Not the time to be pushing myself. It was a little warm, but it was so slow it didn’t matter 😊
And it felt good to be running again. I’ve lost a little fitness but not too much. Fortunately I didn’t have a cough with Covid, so breathing wasn’t a problem although I did notice my heart rate was slightly elevated which was understandable. I was running with a new runner for some of the time and enjoying encouraging her.
Post run stretches done as a group and then home for dinner! This really isn’t an ideal time for me to run. I had a banana before I left the house, but I was hungry. Couldn’t wait to eat when I got back! But the benefits for me running with this group are too good to miss. Next week I’ll probably go back to a 4K run and resume working up to 10K. The choices on Tuesdays are Couch to 5K, 3/4K or 5K. Mondays runs are 5K or 7K. Hill repeats on Saturdays and a woodland 5K on Thursdays. Plus others if anyone organises one!
Planning a slow run, about 45 minutes, on Thursday. 😊

I hated not being well enough to run! But I’ve had times, too in the past when I’ve felt in a bit of a rut. That’s partly why I’ve joined the club. New routes and great scenery makes me more enthusiastic to get out there! I’m glad you’ve got going again, too!
Hi Jools, was only thinking of you today and was wondering how you were. Sorry to hear you've been unwell and glad you are back at it. I'm still on the IC but getting there according to my physio, fingers crossed it won't be too long now. The running club sounds fun and good luck for your run on Thursday 🏃♀️
So good to see you well and running again. That elevated heartrate can continue for a few days after you feel well so you were wise to choose a run you knew wouldn't tax you too much. You will soon be fully fit and running swiftly longer distances.
Terrific that you are out again and feeling so much better. That's quite a choice of runs!
I am wondering what to do about running. I have done 2 lots of just 6 minutes, with a day in between. There's clearly no reaction and none when I have walked for longer either - even running up escalators in London! I was planning to keep on at the same kind of level, but I think I will just lose fitness and I need to start building up again. Something to ponder for tomorrow!
