Getting back from a brief hiatus

Hi everyone. Not checked in for quite some time.

After regular three runs a week post Couch and building up to 10k using ju-ju’s plan, life got a bit hectic late September and then I went down with flu.

Back on it a couple of weekends ago with a 3k whilst still recovering and last week did a 4k, 5k then 6k. This week looks set to be a 4k, 5k and 7k as I’m building back up to 10k for the last weekend in November for the Movember charity challenge.

My times are down on my regular runs, which isn’t a surprise, but I’m still much faster than my first go through ju-ju’s plan - I was doing 8 min/k the last time I just ran 6k (late July) and I did it in just over 7 min/k yesterday.

Up until yesterday I’ve been enduring the runs since flu, not enjoying them. Yesterday was the first run for a while with a big sense of achievement attached.

Weight continues to fall - I have about 3 stone still to lose. I always seem to have about 3 stone still to lose!! MyFitnessPal is helping; cutting myself some slack (but not going mad) at weekends isn’t! My belt bears the marks of evidence.

Enjoy your next run x

Well done Jay, did you record the dates of going to the next hole on your belt? Sorry you haven’t been well, there’s so much going around at the moment. But good to see you back on the road again and steadily increasing the distance again.. Have you had to drop out of your Monday Club too?

I didn’t think to record it, no. The weird thing is my tape measure still insists I’m the same diameter around my waist...

I pulled out of Monday’s after a couple of runs. They are all built like whippets and were far faster than me. They are also running later than I prefer given the darkness. So I’ve bowed out until Spring when I’m hopefully less fat Lab shaped and can keep up with them!

Despite what your tape measure says, you know how your clothes feel now. I’ve only lost 3-4 kg bit I definitely have a waistline I didn’t have before March, and everything’s a bit firmer.

Yes with early dark nights it’s nice to run when you want to.

Blimey, well done on the weight loss, that's a huge achievement!

Flu will really take it out if you and will still be hard to shake off weeks after you think it's gone. Just take it easy and lots of TLC. But good for you for getting out in a routine again, it's hard sometimes.

Congratulations on the loss so far Jay66UK ! That's an amazing achievement on top of an already cracking ability to keep up your running. You will hit challenges, they're unavoidable, but it's how you deal with the aftermath that's the test and you're showing true grit and determination. I have no doubt you'll achieve your goal. Massive well done! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 😁 xx

Good to see you back Jay. I haven't been on for a while but been running regularly. I've not lost to much weight but I do feel a lot better about my self since I started running in May.

I did go on holiday (all inclusive) at the end of Sept. I had a run machine to use. I went on it every other day I was there but I do prefer road running. Anyway, glad to see your making a good recovery. Happy running bud. 👍☺️

Welcome back Jay!! 🤩🤩! Missed ya! I thought you’d still be running though. Well done you!!

OMG look at that belt!!! That’s amazing Jay!! What fantastic results for you. 😍! So pleased!

I’ve relaxed my focus on the weight loss thing (a bit too much focus, as it was feeling a bit destabilising 🙃), but I’m really pleased with my overall feeling of fitness and tone. Any weight that comes off naturally, I’ll be happy with.

May you continue to bring down the notches!! You do know you’ll have to buy a new belt, don’t you? What a happy purchase that should be! 🤩 🌟💫 Happy running!! ❤️

Glad your getting back to it jay, sorry to hear u have been unwell, hope you are feeling better now Xx

Well done on both running and waist! My weight hasn’t been an issue but I was pleased to find that after a month’s road trip in USA I’ve only put on 1kg so can only thank running for that!
