Quick run-report:
Very slow and hot 4k, so the bigger, outer loop in the picture.
I’ve been eyeing my planned out “2-hills 5k loop” route now for the last 3-4 runs. I’ve mapped out the perfect route that has 4 different gradients to use for hill runs, 5% and 7% one way and 6% and 8% the other.
Have I mentioned that I’ve fallen in love with my newly found hill? But despite all the adoration, fate has recently kept us apart!
There is always something that forces me to change my plan, and leaves me going back to my trusty old, first hill route. We’ve been together for as long as I’m running!
But I really want to add this second hill to my routes, but fate has been fickle! First there were the 2 toxic 10 runs, leaving me cautious to not do the second loop..
Then it was too hot on one run, and I didn’t think of taking a water bottle. Or on another one I just didn’t have enough time.
Or, as today, the fields were harvested on my second hill, so my second loop wasn’t possible without getting close up to the harvester. At least that’s what I tell myself; by the time I approached 4k in the hot middle-of-the-day sun, I was glad to have the slightest excuse to leave it at 4k.
So my full 2-hill 5k route will has to wait!
Almost clairvoyantly I had also chosen a 4k run in NRC. The NRC audio guided run (titled: “4k run”) was great, although for slow runners, the distance-based guided runs always mean that the coaches speak only rarely. That’s why I generally like the duration based runs better. The coaches keep me vital company. Of course exception is when I listen to podcasts. Then the distance based runs are great, as there are much less interruptions.
Happy running, everyone. May the distances you run increase with ease, the hills be in your sight and disruptions kept at a minimum.
