Running shorts recommendations?

Now that the weather has warmed up I have been thinking about getting a pair of shorts. I need something inexpensive with legs long enough to prevent my thighs rubbing together and with pockets for phone and keys. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have 2 pairs of M&S shorts bought when I first began running 5 years ago, and they show no signs of wearing out whatsoever. They’re cycling shorts style, come down to mid-thigh and have a handy little pocket at the back. Very comfy. 😀

Thanks cheekychipmunks, i wonder if they are still available?

I don’t know if they still have the exact ones, but there is a decent range of sportswear. Good luck. 😀

M&S do indeed still do those shorts but this year with the benefit of a side pocket 😊

I have these and they’re brilliant. Wore mine this morning! They make a tiny squeaky noise but they’re so comfy that I forgive that. I’ve worn them for two half marathons.

Yes they’re the ones MU! I have them in black and navy and like I say I’ve had them for 5 years. I wear them constantly each summer. In fact I have capris and full length leggings in the same style. I’ve tried expensive brands but have never found them as comfy as these M&S ones. 🥰

I really like M and S sportswear too. A couple of my favourite t shirts are from there and those shorts are just perfect for me. I’ve just ordered another couple of pairs because my shorts are constantly in the wash!!

I have three pairs of the male equivalent of something like these, but they're an older model which is lined:

Having the pockets all round the waist is what I prefer. I put my phone in the pocket in front of my tummy, my house keys in one side, my car fob in another, and my parkrun barcode in another pocket.

Thanks Nowster, that seems like a good idea

They also appear to do some in longer lengths.

Although mine are lined, I now wear running undies with them as I got some chafing on one of my longer runs a month or so ago.

Look at those pockets 😍😍😍

I think I’m going to brave a Decathlon visit. Goodness knows what I’ll come home with this time. I love it there!

Decathlon is a dangerous place, especially for your bank balance.

Hi Leotigris , most of my running wear comes from Lidl or Decathlon. I second nowster 's recommendation for the latter's trail running gear - I have skorts, capris and leggings from there, though not (yet...) their shorts.

I only ever run in basketball gear, comfy, breathable, and yeah, those shorts are long. Not even sure why they call them shorts. They are normally around the knee level and come in 768 different colours! 😀

thanks mrrun, perhaps they need to be renamed longs!
