This morning we woke to the news of the worsening international situation...and a beautiful sunny morning. Decided to seize the moment and run 5k. With all that's going on it was wonderful to be out in nature.
We took it slowly, not for any special reason, it just felt like the right sort of pace. Stopped a couple of times to take photos or just consider our route. The forest looked so beautiful in the morning sunshine, balm for the soul.
Towards the end of the run we both sped up without really thinking about it so the overall average pace was 8'30" mins/km, what I always think of as my 5k pace when I'm doing intervals. My actual paces varied between 9'05" and 7'52" mins/km so it just goes to show it's about effort not speed, as the effort didn't actually vary that much.
Running felt a bit like hard work again today, but not as hard as Monday. I think it's because of the lack of vegetables in my diet. Once I get home I can get back to eating broccoli and salad and see if things improve. I'll miss those fried pies
