on the day I was due to run my 10k graduation 🏃‍♀️ run! I had a serious accident and broke my shoulder! My first thought was I need to text my friend and tell her I couldn’t run as I had just messed up my shoulder big time!

I then called my boss for help as I was out on a collection as I am a post lady!

I was taken to hospital that night and it was confirmed I had indeed broken head of the humerus!

Fast forward two and half months I was starting feel i was getting my life back together! My head was mess! I had hardly left the house due to the pain and discomfort!

The consultant had given me some exercises to do! Gentle rocking movements small circles with my arm!

I am not very good a sitting and doing nothing so had been trying to do things for my self!

3rd April I decided to start doing C25K taking it very carefully! I have found the gentle arm movement of my arm while walking and jogging started to help with the movement of my now frozen shoulder! I saw the physio on 19th April and told her this was what I had been doing she was Happy for me to continue! Plus more exercises!

Week 1 was horrible as all my body had stiffened from lack of movement!

Week 2 was a tad better less stiff overall!

week 3 my running legs are beginning to return!

Now on week4 run 1 done!

I was meant todo another 10k in May which is not realistically is not on the cards so have been allowed to differ it to next year!

i have now decided to aim for a local 10k in October so I have something to aim for!

I am keeping to C25K plan the shoulder is a bit more mobile! My head is also better!

so onward and upwards!

Well done on getting to week 4 and ticking off the first run! And a special well done for doing this with your shoulder injury. I’m sure that really hurt 😩

You’re absolutely right to postpone your 10K and now you have loads of time, with no pressure, to do the one in October, and you can really enjoy it.

Good luck and enjoy the rest of the programme 🍀

Thank you! Yes it was incredibly painful! It’s still uncomfortable but managing it! It’s very stiff not moving very much but running is definitely helping!

You've had to show a lot of resilience to get back to where you are now. I'm sure you'll reach your 10k race goal in October.
