Having spent sometime writing this post over the last 3 weeks, I now precis it.My running plan for our 2 weeks in Turkey was to try and run alternate days for at least 20mins, the area is surrounded by mountains so distances were limited. I also knew food and alcohol would be involved.
After leaving home at 1am and arriving in resort at 4pm, the fun of the first night over indulgence and being disturbed by howling winds throughout the night I jumped out of bed at 6.30am and discovered it was still dark. I kicked my heels until 7.15am togged up in summer running gear and left the apartment. I could really have done with my winter warmers and grew quite cold on the warm up walk, oh and the wind was still there but in silent mode. I managed 20 mins and felt better for it. Roll on Thursday as I could see the potential for fitting in 30 mins.
Wednesday night I laid kit out.
In the early hours I had seering pain in right jaw. A visit to the bathroom and I deposited a lot of red stuff in the sink, not wine.
In too much pain to run we found a dentist who xrayed me then said he could see me Saturday morning at 11.30am.
Spent 2 days feeling sorry for myself and drinking to forget π
Saturday arrives and after further examination the dentist says it has to come out and I also have an infection. I depart having had 2 injections, one molar less, one huge wad of lint clamped in the hole for 1.5hrs, 3 prescriptions and change from Β£70 π
I drank warm beer through a straw.
I did force myself out 2 days later for a 30 min run but really shouldn't have as I still felt rough.
That ended my holiday running and even though I did poppy around a bit we had torrential rain on the days I could have run.
Since being home I've felt very lethargic but eventually managed to rid myself of the 'you can't run' devil who has been my constant companion for a fortnight and I managed 6k this morning.
At least now I know I can still run π
I have signed up for 2 10k events, the first being on the 15/5 in Caerphilly with my daughter, so in the great scheme of things I am still very lucky.
The funny side of this is my extraction was on 1/4 so when we informed our 3 children via WhatsApp they wouldn't believe us until we sent a photo π π π
