I finally managed to heave my body along for 60 minutes today, a full seven months after graduating from C25K! Delays along the way included snow, ice, temporary loss of mojo and running over my big toe with a fully laden garden waste bin in flipflops (I was in flipflops, not the bin). As ever, the encouragement on this forum has really helped. Now begins the journey to 10K. I’ll probably be reporting back in another seven months …

Massive congratulations again!
Congratulations, Chipshop! Yes, that calls for some serious celebrating, as MissUnderstanding , pointed out! (New shoes? New gadget?)
I graduated C25k October 1st and am still slowly building up to 60 minutes. I had to slow the magic plan down as my body seemed to adapt more slowly. You're inspiring me to keep on!
Wow, what an achievement! Congratulations! And ouch re the garden bin incident - those things can be seriously heavy!
Well done Chipshop. I’m right at the beginning of my 1 hour training so it’s encouraging to hear you have done it! Don’t forget to celebrate with cake! 😄
How far are you getting in an hour? I doubt it'll take you another 6 months to reach 10km.
Only a bit over 7k, so it may well! 🐌
My first ever hour-long run had me doing 8km. You're not that far off that.
Two years on, I average 10km in about 57 minutes.
That's really encouraging - thank you!
I graduated C25K in August 2020 (then immediately had an ankle sprain injury so had to restart it in October) but my first hour run was in early January 2021. I had an injury after that one too (a swollen knee because I'd overdone things a few days before).
My first 10km run was in February 2021. I then gradually increased my distances throughout that spring.
I eventually got a sub-hour 10km on the Spring Bank Holiday at the end of May that year on a very flat course (round a reservoir) without pushing for the pace.
The key thing is just to keep gradually extending those long runs (with occasional easier weeks) at an easy pace.
Seeing how you've done an hour, you can simply keep tagging on an extra five minutes per week, and that's well within the recommended 10% increase per week.
Thank you. Gradual increases are def the way to go, though I find the idea of 5 minutes every time a bit daunting! My pace tends to be a bit quicker at parkrun (5k in around 35 mins) but I'm always exhausted by the end and there's no way I could keep it up for a full hour.
My usual parkrun time is 28 mins at my local (hilly) course. On a flatter course I'm usually a little faster.
