o dear. I feel like I’m falling apart

I decided not to run today as I was due to do W5R3 and I’d felt my hip over the previous 2 days. So I went for a loooong walk and now my heel is really painful. So I fear I will have to leave my run for a while so my heel can settle down. I have an aqua session booked tomorrow morning 🤞that helps it to settle down. I’m thinking I might do some jeffing next week to see how things go. 😢😢

Runners get injured pretty much more than anyone else. There are ways of preventing injuries, from personalised training plans, dietary tweaks, strength training, supplements that help recovery, etc, but the main point is understanding why the injuries are happening.

If you get hurt, yes you will eventually heal, but if you don't know why you got hurt - you will get hurt again and again. I did. And then I spent time figuring out what was causing my knee and ankle problems. I sorted them out but then there was the IT band problem as well as the Achilles. Got to the bottom of those as well and there has now been a fairly long period of regular running including some very long runs and no pain, discomfort or injuries at all. Once you know why you're getting hit you'll be in charge, and you'll know how to prevent it. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. It’s frustrating to be getting injured but today I think it must be my walking shoes that have caused my heel pain. I’ll have to put some heel supports into my left one I think as they are new so I don’t want to throw them away. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

You’re listening to your body and easing off as needed which can only be good!

Taking it steady and waiting til it's healed is good, hope it heals quickly

You’re still my inspiration Scruff, I thought about you today when I started couch to 5k again and completed week one. It nearly killed me and I can’t for the life of me imagine running for 30 minutes. really struggled and felt breathless and uncoordinated. However, I kept your achievements in my mind and it really helped me to carry on! You’re doing great but I do hope that your heel and your hip soon feels better.

It can be so frustrating. Have you seen anyone about these injuries? Sometimes we overcompensate when something is not working properly and then we get fresh new injuries as a result... Best of luck, it sounds like jeffing for a while is a sensible way forward atm 💪🤗

no I’ve not seen anyone drs are unavailable where I live unless you’re moribund. I’m just using my common sense ( for a change). Jeffing here I come. 🤣🤣

It might be worth making an appointment with a physio if common sense isn't enough 😉🤣 good luck, keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞🍀

Taking it easy until things get better is a good idea.

If things don't get better, and you can afford it, a sports physio appointment might be well worth the investment.
