Well after 2 enjoyable painfree runs todays attempt ended after 5 minutes in pain. Much to my horror I thought I was being ultra careful as I had decided to do intervals on the treadmill. Started with 5 minutes walking and the idea was to continue with 5 minutes of running and then another 5 minutes of walking for about 30 minutes in total. However after just 4 minutes I felt a twinge so I stopped running immediately but have felt it all afternoon. 😢😢😢 I’m devastated. I was going to go out tomorrow to try it but it’s still sore this evening so think I will have to leave the run for another day ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

I would rest up... and give it at least a day...just to be sure that you have no residual issues?

Thank you. I’m hoping a few days rest will help it 😢😢

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I was recovering from my IT band issues. I’d been running really well outside. Got on a treadmill and a few minutes in it was so painful that I almost couldn’t walk afterwards. It settled down after a few days.

It’s so easy to think you’re right back to the start of recovery again but you’re not. Setbacks and grumbles are a part of the process. Hopefully this will just be a blip and you’ll be back soon. Sending much sympathy your way.

This is so helpful for me to hear. I was so down in the dumps 😞 last night. I’ve got a busy few days visiting elderly relatives so hopefully by next Tuesday it will feel a bit bet 🙏🙏🙏🙏

It’s such a rollercoaster. The first flare up I had was worse emotionally than when I had it for the first time. It was helpful to remember that I had been running pain free, I’d done loads of strength work and my physio didn’t seem to think it was a big deal at all. I read somewhere that us runners are drama queens (in a nice way!) and we’re brilliant at turning standard setbacks into total disasters. I totally relate to that! That busy period of enforced running rest that you’ve got coming up seems well timed. Really crossing fingers for everything to settle down and you to be back soon ❤️‍🩹
