IT band syndrome!

Help! Think I have IT band syndrome… cramp like/horrid pain in outer/lateral aspect of my knee, had to stop half way through my recovery run last week.

I have been incrementally increasing my running, but think the interval sprints did it on the treadmill (I hate treadmills but weather was hopeless).

Pain has ceased when walking now after icing and 1 weeks rest and gentle stretching. Any tips or idea when I can start up again, I have a half marathon typically in 10weeks!

Hello... welcome!

I am not sure where you are on the running levels... looking at your last post two years ago, you were on Week 7 of C25K...? If you have a half Marathon in ten weeks then you have obviously been running since then ? Maybe let us know what has been happening, then we can be a tad more helpful?

Hi! Thanks, not sure if this is the right forum for this query, apologies if it’s not? I’ve long completed C25K and have done a couple of 10K races now… Started to increase to 12-14k and that’s where I’ve hit a little injury.

I think because you did not finish C25K with us , it makes it hard to be helpful ...if you have been building up over the two years and are running regularly. ( at least three times weekly ), and at + 10K and beyond then maybe the place to go, is our Marathon and Half Marathon Forum.

As with C25K, and Bridge to 10K there is a structured and advisable route to follow for 10K and beyond.. so, maybe take a look:)

That is where our Marathon and Half Marathon experts are. They will be able to give you some sound, sensible advice if you are able to fill them in, with what you have been doing over the last two years:)
