This morning I decided to run the old local 11 km route out of nostalgia.
It’s got a 194m elevation gain almost all in one lump near the beginning. An added bonus was running into a wild boar hunt (I’m still in France). It wasn’t clearly indicated so I had to run past about 10 rabid shooters, waving and calling out when I saw them. Phew.
So proud at the end to have taken 5 minutes off my PB three years ago. Funny how shotguns can motivate.
After my return, hundreds of runners came in from a celebrated local trail run. These people had run 23km with 1300m elevation. (A taster run was 8km with 500m elevation!) These people are mountain goats. It was great to see that the last runners, coming in at 5 hours, were still wildly applauded. They put my 11 km into perspective!!

Hmm, a battue aux sangliers without proper signs, hi-viz gear, and properly stationed hunters? Illegal! But you know that already, hein ?
Congratulations on your run anyway. That trail run sounds like my kind of thing when I'm fit - no need to have any turn of speed, just carry on plodding regardless.
PS Love the illustration. Not sure most wild boar do that sort of cute pose all that often!
Haha yes shotguns can have that effect 😳 I sometimes hear gunshots on my runs and while they are safely in the distance they still gives me a little speed 😂
