NRC 10k Plan Week 1 Run 3: Another recovery run

How is everyone doing on their 10k plans? Currently, there seem to be quite a few of us at the moment re-experiencing the journey to 10k, both with the Magic Plan and the NRC 10k plan.

Well, I am on run 3 of my 1st week of the NRC10k plan, a leisurely 25min run (+ an additional 10 min) , once the drizzly rain stopped, this morning.

Some takeaways from this run, or rather things I pondered about whilst running, and desperately using mnemonic hooks to keep remembering them (I often don’t):

1 - Take it easy on easy runs. Even the ultra-slow runners like me have difficulty getting us to take it easy. I have found shifting to breathing through your mouth keeps you in easy-running mode (and heart rate low).

2 - “Of course we believe that you, Coach Bennett, are faster than all the worlds best runners put together! “🤣🤣🤣

3 - Have fun on recovery runs. Stop to take a pic when you want. Forget about pace, times, just have fun with movement.

4 - Do whatever you can do to fall in love with running! Everything is easier if you love what you do! This includes running and running slow. I’m already head over heels 😉 in love with running. It just makes me feel so good in myself!

So happy running everyone!

I did run 4 - 2nd speed/interval run this morning. Really enjoyed it and felt strong doing it. It was a bit damp underfoot and in the air but a nice temperature. It was also very quiet as the damp kept a lot of people indoors - really nice to have the streets to yourself.

Run 5 is a 5k longer run. I will be doing that on Wednesday I think as I have yoga tomorrow and have morning appointment Tuesday (I only ever run in the mornings😂) Enjoying the structure of this plan and a more relaxed view on completing the weekly schedule.

Nice. That’ll be the run I’m doing on Tuesday or Wed. The 5k then Fri or Sat.

I love stretching the weeks. I know one could theoretically keep the week but drop some runs, but part of the fun is experiencing every single audio run Coach Bennett puts in front of us.

So the relaxing/stretching of ‘weeks’ also works really well for me.

did #3 this morning in between the showers! Really dialled it back too…

I think this would be an excellent run to suggest to new graduates too!

…run easy…run SMART!
