A quick run this morning

We haven't run since Tuesday due to a combination of too much fun and too much rain. This morning was busy too, a service at the second oldest church in England followed by a hairdresser's appointment (definitely necessary!). Parkrun was an option but we woke up too late plus we had to be at the church for 10.30/11ish, a very tight squeeze. Instead, we settled for a quick 3k.

I didn't even have time to make coffee but gulped down a big glass of beetroot juice. It's supposed to be very helpful for non-elite runners lol. We've had quite a bit of rain recently and I was worried that the mud paths we run on would be very unpleasant but quite the opposite. It was a glorious morning, sunshine, blue skies, clean air. Decided I'd run a bit faster than normal to make up for the shorter distance. When I checked I discovered I was going slower than my average pace when I ran the 10K. So much for perceived effort!

Once home I stretched, made breakfast, showered and was out just in time to get to the service. Guess who else was there? The race director from our Parkrun. I've never spoken to him before and he was very friendly. He'd got there by the skin of his teeth too. It's good to care for mind, body and spirit :)

That is a lovely photo of a little church in the sunshine, the second oldest church in England, well done on running that 3K, 3K is the distance I run on a Saturday morning when I don't go to parkrun.

Wasn't that nice seeing the run director from the parkrun at the church service, talking about run directors and churches, at one of the parkruns I go to, one of the run directors at Drumpellier Parkrun is also a church minister of the Church of Scotland.

When I did the 10k the other week I recognised loads of people from my church - it must have been empty that Sunday!
