We haven't run since Tuesday due to a combination of too much fun and too much rain. This morning was busy too, a service at the second oldest church in England followed by a hairdresser's appointment (definitely necessary!). Parkrun was an option but we woke up too late plus we had to be at the church for 10.30/11ish, a very tight squeeze. Instead, we settled for a quick 3k.
I didn't even have time to make coffee but gulped down a big glass of beetroot juice. It's supposed to be very helpful for non-elite runners lol. We've had quite a bit of rain recently and I was worried that the mud paths we run on would be very unpleasant but quite the opposite. It was a glorious morning, sunshine, blue skies, clean air. Decided I'd run a bit faster than normal to make up for the shorter distance. When I checked I discovered I was going slower than my average pace when I ran the 10K. So much for perceived effort!
Once home I stretched, made breakfast, showered and was out just in time to get to the service. Guess who else was there? The race director from our Parkrun. I've never spoken to him before and he was very friendly. He'd got there by the skin of his teeth too. It's good to care for mind, body and spirit
