Laughter in the rain

Woke up and was out of the house just after 6.30am - always helps to have running gear and tech laid out ready the night before ๐Ÿ˜‰.

So todayโ€™s the day I do 6k (week 2 of Magic Plan). Very wet under foot but off I went. I had planned that 2 laps of the marina, up on to the sea front for a grand finish should be just about right.

Just started my 2nd lap going away from home once more and the heavens opened ๐Ÿ’ฆ I was drenched in about 3 minutes flat. I did consider making this a shorter run but youโ€™ll be proud of meโ€ฆ that thought was banished almost as soon as it appeared - after all, I couldnโ€™t get more wet !

So on I went - driving rain and all ๐Ÿ’ช

Nobody to say good morning to - they have more sense ๐Ÿ™„.

Nobody to see me laughing at myself as the rain continued or as I raised my arms in triumph at the end of 6k.

Back home, 11,000 +steps later, showered, changed and ready for work at home all by 8am.

Feeling rather smug ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Thatโ€™s a super impressive start to the day! Massive congratulations to you ๐ŸŽ‰

Iโ€™m also an arms up, do a little dance kind of celebrator at the end of a good run. Luckily Iโ€™m rural so itโ€™s normally just a sheep watching me. If Iโ€™d seen you, Iโ€™d have clapped and cheered with you (from under a brolly from the sounds of it!).

The magic plan is great-thatโ€™s what I followed to get to 10k as well. Really good luck to you for the rest of the plan and hope you get a few drier runs!!!

Thanks MU - if anyone had seen me they would have thought Iโ€™d just won Olympic gold ๐Ÿฅ‡

I did timed version of MP quite a while back to get to 60mins but really wanted the challenge of distance this time although if I do that before work, Iโ€™ll need take a torch with me ๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿคฃ

Snails rule! Itโ€™s really great that the two versions of the plan exist. If I were doing it again, Iโ€™d use some of the Nike Run Club app guided runs (lots match up with the right distance/time). I didnโ€™t discover that until afterwards and I found I really missed the commentary from c25k.

I did c25k in January so buying a decent head torch was one of the best investments I made! Really good luck to you. ๐ŸŒ โค๏ธ

Hey, well done on your 6k! Running in the rain is grrreeeaaattt, isn't it - it makes you feel so alive!

And you should definitely feel smug about running at 6:30am - that is super hero stuff ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜ด

Thanks WW - Iโ€™ve run in drizzle before but this was a new experience and in a strange sort of way, really enjoyable. Iโ€™ll have to have the right number of rest days now to give my shoes time to dry out !

Woo hoo! Congratulations on your super achievement! ๐Ÿ‘Great you kept going in the rain. Thanks for the top about putting kit out the night before an early run. Iโ€™ll try that!

Thank you - Iโ€™m afraid it doesnโ€™t take much for me to turn over and go back to sleep so if everything is ready, Iโ€™ve really got no excuse. Need to add a head torch to my prep list now though as MU kindly suggested

I often laugh when the rain comes on. Sometimne just smile. You reminded me of the Neil Sedaka song.

The very song in my head at the time - bit dreamy for what I was doing which could be why I slowed down in the middle of my run๐Ÿค” Need to think of a more lively one ๐Ÿ˜‰

used to spend time on play lists but now prefer my own thoughts โ€ฆ or empty head ๐Ÿ˜‰

Quite often songs go in and out of my brain while I run - I did โ€œwhy does it always rain on me โ€œ and โ€œ itโ€™s raining againโ€ during this one but Neil Sedaka stuck with me for my post

ha ha ๐Ÿ˜. What larks ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ Yep, you canโ€™t get any wetter so keep going ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚

๐ŸŽถooh I hear laughter in the rain โ€ฆ. ๐ŸŽต ๐Ÿ’ฆโ˜”๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ Neil Sedaka ๐Ÿฅฐ

Youโ€™re right - once youโ€™re wet through, you must just press on ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

Well done 61Lady , it sounds just like my parkrun last week. To end the run outside the house is best when soaked and then straight into the shower. ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Ah yes - I try to plan to finish on sea front no matter how far or what time I go - if I plan it right itโ€™s 5 min walk & stretch home. Must confess worse bit was peeling off wet clothes (ewww) but great to get in warmish shower ๐Ÿ˜€
