Woke up and was out of the house just after 6.30am - always helps to have running gear and tech laid out ready the night before ๐.
So todayโs the day I do 6k (week 2 of Magic Plan). Very wet under foot but off I went. I had planned that 2 laps of the marina, up on to the sea front for a grand finish should be just about right.
Just started my 2nd lap going away from home once more and the heavens opened ๐ฆ I was drenched in about 3 minutes flat. I did consider making this a shorter run but youโll be proud of meโฆ that thought was banished almost as soon as it appeared - after all, I couldnโt get more wet !
So on I went - driving rain and all ๐ช
Nobody to say good morning to - they have more sense ๐.
Nobody to see me laughing at myself as the rain continued or as I raised my arms in triumph at the end of 6k.
Back home, 11,000 +steps later, showered, changed and ready for work at home all by 8am.
Feeling rather smug ๐คฃ๐โโ๏ธ

Thatโs a super impressive start to the day! Massive congratulations to you ๐
Iโm also an arms up, do a little dance kind of celebrator at the end of a good run. Luckily Iโm rural so itโs normally just a sheep watching me. If Iโd seen you, Iโd have clapped and cheered with you (from under a brolly from the sounds of it!).
The magic plan is great-thatโs what I followed to get to 10k as well. Really good luck to you for the rest of the plan and hope you get a few drier runs!!!
Thanks MU - if anyone had seen me they would have thought Iโd just won Olympic gold ๐ฅ
I did timed version of MP quite a while back to get to 60mins but really wanted the challenge of distance this time although if I do that before work, Iโll need take a torch with me ๐ ๐คฃ
Snails rule! Itโs really great that the two versions of the plan exist. If I were doing it again, Iโd use some of the Nike Run Club app guided runs (lots match up with the right distance/time). I didnโt discover that until afterwards and I found I really missed the commentary from c25k.
I did c25k in January so buying a decent head torch was one of the best investments I made! Really good luck to you. ๐ โค๏ธ
Thanks WW - Iโve run in drizzle before but this was a new experience and in a strange sort of way, really enjoyable. Iโll have to have the right number of rest days now to give my shoes time to dry out !
Woo hoo! Congratulations on your super achievement! ๐Great you kept going in the rain. Thanks for the top about putting kit out the night before an early run. Iโll try that!
Thank you - Iโm afraid it doesnโt take much for me to turn over and go back to sleep so if everything is ready, Iโve really got no excuse. Need to add a head torch to my prep list now though as MU kindly suggested
The very song in my head at the time - bit dreamy for what I was doing which could be why I slowed down in the middle of my run๐ค Need to think of a more lively one ๐
used to spend time on play lists but now prefer my own thoughts โฆ or empty head ๐
Quite often songs go in and out of my brain while I run - I did โwhy does it always rain on me โ and โ itโs raining againโ during this one but Neil Sedaka stuck with me for my post
Well done 61Lady , it sounds just like my parkrun last week. To end the run outside the house is best when soaked and then straight into the shower. ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฆ๐ฆ
Ah yes - I try to plan to finish on sea front no matter how far or what time I go - if I plan it right itโs 5 min walk & stretch home. Must confess worse bit was peeling off wet clothes (ewww) but great to get in warmish shower ๐
