Running with a Holter ECG attached!

Well I was expecting to have to take a break from running for a week because of having a Holter ECG monitor fitted. But they have a new device which means you can exercise as normal as part of the monitoring. See photo attached. So please as was having withdrawal symptoms at the prospect of not getting up to run!!!!

Well I've heard of running with a buddy but not a Holter! Seriously, I hope things are going well for you and that this is just monitoring your improved physical fitness as there is no mistaking that it has definitely improved. Enjoy your running all the more this week. 🙂

😂😂😂 the Holter is looking for an elusive arrhythmia! If it draws a blank, not unlikely, apart from the meds, that will end the effort to find a cause for the stroke. 5 months on and with the success of the running, I think I will be able to move on after this. The probability of a second stroke doesn't diminish but I can do no more and in fairness I probably can't expect more from the NHS. I feel for all those people who have had strokes and didn't get help in time and are left with a permanent disability to work round.

I suffer with Atrial fibrillation and had a holter monitor on for 3 days but managed 2 runs with no problems. No problems found. Good luck

Hi, thanks for this. I've managed one run okay but needed to change the patch later in the day. I think finding AF for me will be a needle in a hay stack. I have purchased a Kardia 6 lead personal monitor on GP's recommendation but I've yet to be aware of anything unusual in my heart. I have no sense when it's beating fast or slow! As I've run my running heart rate average has decreased, a good sign circa 130-140bpm. Occasionally I get 160 but am not aware. But also my smartwatch which seems accurate has me randomly going up to 190 (dangerous) when not active or just walking and again I'm not aware. Occasionally I've used the Kardia when I've felt a little funny and I get an accurate but non rateable reading ie not sinus but also not enough to say AF. For the most part I'm bradycardia with ectopics which again is not a cause for action. The heart consultant said you'll never know.....til next time maybe. Bot of a long winded reply and probably not relevant but sometimes helps me to clarify 'where I'm at' and if it resonates with someone it may be helpful as has reading other people's record of their condition been for me.

I'm not sure I trust the watches. I wore a chest monitor and a watch for a run and found a big difference regarding the higher heartbeats. I find an oximeter much more accurate.
