i had been plodding along quite nicely on my NRC HM plan when things suddenly ground to a Halt again
i have had various issues both with my back and also with my stomach.
I will not go into detail other than to say it resulted in doctors appointments , and getting one of them is an achievement in the first place.
and a few tests which are up to now all negative.
My doctor also wanted me to have an endoscopy (I've had one many years ago as this has been ongoing)
but the hospital in their wisdom have decided I don't need one and have instead given me a telephone appointment with the consultant in FEBRUARY!!! 🤬🤬🤬
how he will see down my throat over the telephone I do not know 😁
anyway, enough of the medicals.
i was a little apprehensive this morning after such a long break so decided to go out and take it nice and steady and see where I got to
all started off fine , albeit a little stiff and clunky so just kept it slow
no guided run , I just went with my music and my thoughts with no goals or expectations.
the toxic 10 was pretty evident as I had expected and it took about the first kilometer to sort out my pace but it felt good to be out again
after around 2k my pace was fairly consistent but it was feeling muggy
a bit of an incline now taking me up to 2.5k then a bit of a decline to 3.
i was already feeling a little tired at this point so decided I would not push onto 5k
i continued to 3.5 and decided to call it a day
anyway, it was so good to be out there again and feeling good
Misty the Cat was in exactly the same position on the back of the sofa when I came back and she just lay there watching me stretch

Well done, Ian 👏👏👏👍 Never easy to get out there again after a break, for whatever reason. I hope that your health problems are coming to an end with your complete recovery, long before that ridiculously lengthy wait for a telephone appointment. 3.5k is a perfect distance to see how it feels to be back out there! 😊
Thanks jools , as I'm sure you know , A break is one thing .... The other problem is it gives time for the mojo to move out and the gremlins to move in !
Good to have you back! 😁😁 It sounds like a successful comeback run, 3k is a nice distance after a break. Good luck with all your medical issues and appointments. Misty is as cute as always 😻 but how she can be comfy in that position is beyond me 😅😅
What a cute little cat is Misty, lovely photo, that was a nice short 3.5K run for you today Ian, I am glad that you are feeling a bit better and that run did you the world of good. 😊
Congrats on your return to running and sorry to hear of your medical issues. I hope all goes well and that having to wait 7 months for a telephone appointment(!!) does not play on your mind too much. 🤞
Not unusual round here to see a runner with their best friend trotting along obediently beside them - a cat?! Now that would be something! 🐈🏃♂️😂
Oh it’s so good to see you out there again Ian after what must have felt like an eternity! Hurrah! I am made up for you. 3.5k sounds like the perfect distance and I’m sure it gave you a much needed boost. Misty’s obviously taking it all in her stride as ever! 😊😊😊
He is gonna need a longer tube, that is for sure... we await photographs !
Seriously, you have had a rough time and five weeks can feel very long, especially when awaiting test results!
Those first steps, when we have had time out.. always a bit nerve wracking, but you totally did the right thing. Listened to the body and knew when to stop!
Huge well done you and good to see you out there again, hopefully I may be following your footsteps next week!
What a little sweetie to get back home too... she knows her place xx
Aawww I wondered where you were, Misty obviously thinks this running lark is over rated, good to know you got back out there. Hoping your ails are well and truly over
Cat life..I am so envious of them hehehe. Good to know you could do a 3.5k and listened to your body.Hope they have a cancellation and you get a prior appointment. To wait for a telephone appointment until February is so not right, try the hospital's ED may be?
Yes, it's a hard life being a cat 🤣to be honest I'm so tired with chasing up doctors and results I'm not sure what my next move is yet .... It's a long story that's been going on for years 😐
I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been well and I hope the tests continue to be negative. Sounds like they're not too worried about you, but it's frustrating to wait so long!Well done for getting out there and doing that distance after a 5 week break seems sensible. Hope you enjoyed it.
Seems as though there’s a few of us trying to pick up our running after a few weeks out, at the moment. You were wise to ease back in slowly - I had a few weeks out recently and plodded around my first 5K back very slowly - but it felt a lot further than it usually does, all the same!🥵🤣
Lovely picture of Misty 😻 - we sadly had to have our lovely boy Nelson🐈⬛ put to sleep recently and I miss him so much.😢
