I thinking hard about taking up the offer :)

I have posted before about my neighbours just down the road having a built a gym in the room they have under their patio in their garden. I have been given an open invitation to use it whenever I want. This sounded particularly appealing when I have the little ones in toe, I can have a run on the treadmill and keep an eye on them playing. I have used it a couple of times but didn't want to take the mick by going too regularly.

This morning, I got up early and went for my usual outdoor run leaving the house at 6AM, only a 5Krun, but the heat was already building up by the end. I felt the energy just draining from me, cool weather definitely suits me better.

I have just received a text from my neighbours reminding me of their offer, they saw me run past this morning looking a bit warm and said they just checked their gym temperature, and its 19 degrees (at 4PM), its 28 degrees outside at least.

The room has 3 sides underground with the forth being mainly bifold double glazed doors but they must only get direct sun until mid morning. Apparently the temperature varies very little in there.

Having, walked the afternoon school run (and wishing I had taken the car with every step) I am really tempted to go round now just to stand inside. The hard decision I now have to make is; do I get up even earlier for an outdoor run, or take them up on their offer and have a lie in?

:) :) :)

Very nice of your neighbour on inviting you to use their gym, the minimum temperature over the next week or so is not to go below 20C in some places in England, there is a Amber warning heat alert from the Met Office starting next Sunday, so even first thing in the morning it will be very warm running outside, you should accept the invitation from your neighbour and use their treadmill in their gym.

I confirmed last night I would take them up on their offer, I was told they would be out today but told me where they would put the key.

Walking the little ones to school means that by the time I get back I have well and truly warmed up (especially in this weather). As I walked in, I was hit by the cool air and shut the door as quickly as I could to preserve it.

A little note was waiting for me telling me the WiFi is now fully working with the password, and an invitation to help myself to the cold drinks in the fridge. They now have a TV in there now so I can watch NetFlix too if I wanted or just ask their Echo to play something. I was feeling really spoilt.

OK, so running on a treadmill is not the same as running outside, but the coolness was a definite winner. My initial plan was to do just 5K but ended up doing 8 before slowing down for a few minutes walk. Once finished, a quick check to ensure everything was switched off and went to the door. The sun in my face and the heat outside confirmed I had made the right decision, I could stay there all day!!

I think in the couple of minutes it took me to get home, I sweated more than during my run.

I don't want to take advantage or outstay my welcome but may well take them up on their generosity until the weather cools.

👍 Kind and very trusty neighbours, well done on your 8K run on the treadmill.

I must say that if I enjoyed treadmill running and had an open invitation to use one in a neighbour's private gym it'd be a no-brainer - do it!

Yep, I took them up on their offer, and yes, definitely a no-brainer. It was bliss!!
