The goodness of humans and the beauty of well-kept trails

Early run around the hill this morning. I was able to tick off two NRC audio-coached runs. One recovery run for my warm-up and one interval speed run for the main session.

The last time I ran, there were quite a few branches pulled down into the path, and at that time, I had to double back as I could not pass them.

My husband had done a walk this morning, armed with a pocket saw. But on his return, he reported back that someone had already removed all the branches that had been in our way.

He did clear the path further on from any brambles and nettles. But according to him, there must now be at least two or three “keepers of the trails”.

I thank them for their efforts to keep the trails free for dog walkers and runners.

Despite the freed path, I returned hot and sweaty, having misjudged the temperature and donning a long sleeve t-shirt, and my different gears for my speed run were pretty all the same. But still, I was proudly returning from my run!

I need to rely a bit more on my running in the next few weeks. My indoor rower has not been in use for quite a few days; we had to move it out of our guest room because we expect a friend to stay with us for four weeks. We look forward to that, but it has disrupted my rowing, as the rower has moved into our living room behind our couch. It just doesn’t feel as good going to row there, also as my husband does his office work in the living room. Bummer.

I am beginning to understand people wanting to build their man-cave-gym-shed-thing, even as a woman! So here’s to dreaming about women-gym-sheds.

So happy dreaming, running, and make sure you hydrate in this heat!

Oooh well done getting 2 runs ticked off !And yes, I guess rowing behind the couch dosent quite have the same appeal 🤣

It's great that the trail's are being maintained! Well done to your husband and others for taking the time to look after them 👍👏👏👏

Huge well done you... ! Great to have trail keepers too! Maybe your friend could splash water over you behind the couch to make it more realistic?

A women gym shed... great idea... I love my little hidey hole !

Mini gym...

We were lucky.. when we moved house seven years ago.. our house had a long building...the previous owners were a busy couple.. he built kit cars in one end and she made furniture at the other end.. and a loft running the length of it... We spilt up areas ... made a studio, where I paint and write, at one one end, ( now taken over by small runner in training and Sylvanians.. and split the other end... my tiny gym is at that end.. we did most of it ourselves with the help of a trusty local craftsman. :)

Just very lucky... and, it is not always that tidy... :) xx

Well done on your runs. What about the garage. ?Ours would be cool in this heat but freezing in the winter.

Yeah, our house is so old it doesn’t have a garage and only has a 100-year old dilapidated coach house we use as a garden shed. Uneven earthen ground, holes in the roof, boards for doors kind of thing. Great as a garden shed but not a gym-shed 🤣🤣.
