Post interval run aches!

Week 4 of the magic plan and I decided to mix it up a bit with some intervals during the short 4km run yesterday evening. This is the first time I’ve tried it and I had a lot of fun sprinting between trees and gates along a quiet lane. Seriously enjoyed it. Some poor walker got a shock when I happened upon them at full pelt round a blind corner!

Oh my goodness, I am in pain today though. My legs feel like I’ve done a full on session in the gym. I thought I’d done plenty of stretching before and after but obviously the change in speed wasn’t something my body was prepared for! Rest day today with a gentle walk and possibly a swim. Will reevaluate tomorrow re the next run.

It sounds like a great run, even if your legs are feeling it today 😃 I'm sure something like swimming and walking will do the trick and an easy run next to give them time to recover before your next long run. Well done, your half way through the plan! 👏👏👏

Running fast is hard on the body so I’m not surprised your legs feel a bit sore. They’ll feel better the more they get used to faster running but keep these sessions for once a week only and build up gradually.

But it sounds as if you enjoyed them and they are very good for our running 👍 so well done.

If you have a foam roller then a session with that might help 🙂

Sounds great fun, sometimes we need to run faster just so we know we can and get that exhilarating feeling even if we feel it the next day

Thanks everyone! I am still aching today but I feel like I must have done done good. It’s the “my muscles have worked hard” sort of ache rather than “I have broken something in my body!” Definitely worth it. I think I’ll keep the intervals to once a week and look at a foam roller. I keep spotting them in TK Maxx and wondering what they’re for. Now I know!
