Running on the back burner for a while

I got out fairly early last Friday and it was a beautiful morning. Chugged along to the Māori sign ( must post a pic of that) and turned for home. Hardly any one about and even fewer cars. As I was approaching a corner - nearly on the home stretch - a car came round, close to the edge of the empty road, too close to me, and I was forced off the road. My foot turned on the jagged uneven edge of tarmac and down I went. Embarrassed, and actually … in pain - uh oh! I struggled up - the car had stopped I waved it away - I’m fine! - I realised my ankle was a funny angle and throbbing. A woman walking her dogs asked if I was ok. Had I got the reign no. I was in shock told her not to worry I was fine. Hobbled the 800m home and realised my leggings were torn. Threw them away, showered went to work, in my garden room. Later pain increasing, spoke to my ‘GP’ who told me to go to A&E. Long story short I have torn a ligament and it’ll be 6 weeks before I run again. Am in despair!

Oh I’m so sorry to hear about this Omiah . Just pleased it wasn’t worse as that car could have done more damage. Hope it’s not too painful, and that you can work around it at some point to keep active. Have done something similar and it does heal, you just have to be patient. 😊😊😊

Ouch, and triple ouch...a beautiful morning spoiled!Despair yes...but there is good news. ( honestly). The runs wait.

The tricky bit ? The waiting .... !

So... loads you are able to do, to keep motivated and to keep your running body in trim ready for the big comeback.

Staying strong, working on the core strength and stamina will be so beneficial!

I was on the IC for a total of 8 weeks, after a diagnosis, which was generated fron something that was unrelated tot the first problem, and then a further 4 weeks, waiting for an MRI scan.

My issue meant that I was able to walk, though, and I am old and retired so my work load not like yours. Some of my activities may not work for you..!

But as I said, there is a lot ( which you are probably aware), of that you can be doing.

maybe take expert advice on timings.

My rule would be when you can walk without pain...( I am NOT an expert though ).

Gentle ankle stretches , toe and heel walking and non- weight bearing exercises...

E,g.

Hope some of this may help.., and if you are bored... I have linked one of my many rambles that I posted over my enforced stau in the IC :)
