I did a 12k run today and wore my decathlon hydration vest for the first time...I've only had it a year...... It was very comfortable and very easy to drink from but very sloshy sounding on my back, probably because I left too much air space in the bladder. I'm not sure if that sound can be eliminated though! I've booked myself on to the Tewksbury Half in May, so building up my long runs now. Today was almost too hot! Not complaining though, I love a bright spring day. π
First try of hydration vest: I did a 12k run... - Bridge to 10K
First try of hydration vest
Sounds interesting, and the weather was glorious
A simple solution to the sloshing is to hold the bladder upside down after youβve filled it, and suck the air out through the tube. It works a treat!
Iβm so glad you had a good long run today. The weather was wonderful wasnβt it? ππ
Looks like it was a beautiful day for a run! Good luck with the HM training πͺ
12k! Nice! Wow, those km add up! Keep running and hydrating with your nifty new hydration vest! πππππ½π¦π¦
Sounds like a great run! Good luck with the next one and the build up to the half. Iβm on the same HM journey!
What a beautiful photo! And thank you for reminding me that I also have a new Decathlon hydration vest that has been hiding in a drawer since Christmas (when I really couldn't believe that I would ever run far enough to need it π ).
I ran my first 13k last week (NRC HM plan - should have been 12.5k but Mrs Garmin disagreed with Mr NRC π€£), so I think it is time to get the vest out too! I'm a bit worried about getting a sweaty back though - how did you find it?
Good luck with your HM training - we must be at about the same stage - apparently I have 8 weeks to go .... You are very brave entering a race, I would be terrified at the idea of running with others!
Ah that was a good reminder for you! Now I think of it I do remember feeling a bit warm under it on my back, but actually considering it was so warm I don't think I can say it was sweaty.... so go for it! I was wearing a sports teeshirt that is sweat wicking too. I have run 2 races with others so far and found it very weird but I quite like the cheers from the people watching..... motivational. I am just picking the quieter races at the moment - perhaps the less well known ones.
