Yay! My first 10k. 53 weeks and one day after starting C25K

I managed to do what seemed unthinkable back then thanks to the C25K forum, the wonderful people at Bridge to 10k as well as Ju-Ju‘s Magic Plan. 🤸‍♀️🏃‍♀️😀

Need to think of a March quest now. 😀

My first 10k done.

10K done!!

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to do it today (well, yesterday) but as I reached 8k, which had been my aim for the day, I passed "Lady with cute dog" for the second time and she shouted out "Well done you!" which gave me the push to just go for it! It was a beautiful sunny morning and everything just fell in to place.

I rarely post here, my last (and only) post was to say I had completed C25K, but I love reading everyone's running tales, and all the advice here has been invaluable, so thank you all.

Yesterday I finally completed my first 10km. It has taken me years to build up to this distance. It felt like such a long way! I was spurred on by the thought that if I didn’t run I wouldn’t make it to pick the children up from school on time 😂😂

I am so proud - before starting C25k I wouldn’t have run for a bus!

I don’t know how this happened but this morning I got on a roll and…10.05km!!! I was aiming to get there by June for my first race but this morning it just felt great and I didn’t notice I’d covered over 9km instead of the 8km I was aiming for. I figured I might as well keep going for the big 10. Very pleased indeed. I guess I can upgrade my c25k graduate badge from last month!

Congratulations on your 10k Well done and I have pinned on your badge 😁

Do bear in mind the 10% rule though when increasing distance !

The Graduate 10 badge of course will only show on this forum .

If you post on the couch forum it wil still show 'Graduate'

Well done and the shiny badge looks great 😎

Thanks for the badge and the advice. I’m going to adjust run 3 of this week to be shorter to account for the extra distance today and remember to set some alerts so I don’t accidentally go too far again. I think mentally it’s really going to help the training knowing that since I’ve already run 10K, I can definitely do it. Every run from now on is going to be making that distance either faster or more comfortable to run. Still smiling after today’s effort though! 🏅 🏃‍♀️
