Half term runs - good time to run further

As i work in a school and it’s half term here in NI I’ve got some extra time on my hands this week, a good opportunity to run without time pressures. So this morning i went for my second ‘interval’ run of the week, without any coaching, and it was actually a calm bright morning, the best of the week, though rather chilly, as it’s been very stormy already here and more expected later today.

Since January i have been repeating c25K but jogging and running instead of walking and running since i have trouble deliberately running at a slower pace and thought this might work for me, I’m up to week 6.

But with extra time on my hands i decided to do a couple of interval runs, trying to keep two different paces, and i managed my longest distances so far at a little under 7K on each run, my average pace was 7.10-7.14/km even with a walking interval of 3-4 minutes in the middle, so I’m very happy with the outcome. I’m burning those calories rightly, 400 on this morning’s run.

I’ve been on a health/fitness regime since last august and since the beginning of January am no longer losing weight, but am maintaining it. I eat heartily and healthily but it is hard keeping this sweet tooth at bay now. I am enjoying my runs and look forward to them, but am no longer enjoying my fitness exercises on my rest days, so i need to find something that i like doing for those days instead.

Any way, just wanted to post my progress and hopefully encourage somebody else to keep pushing on, and enjoy your runs whatever form they take. Keeeeeep running! 😊

I also work in a school - not great if you have a sweet tooth (I do too!😉) as the staff room always seems to be stocked with cakes and sweets!Well done on your fitness journey and your runs! 🙂👍
