Last Saturday evening I suffered an ankle twang (is that even a word?) while on a short dog walk. It came out of nowhere and felt like something was trapped across the top of my foot at the base of my leg. It also knocked my stability out. Very strange. Therefore I have taken a week off running, RICED it and done some gentle exercises and whatever it was has eased and cleared up.
After a few days of progressively longer and issue free walks with my dog, I thought I would try a very gentle run today and try to get back on track on the 10k plan. Iβm glad to say that I managed 5k and all feels fine. I had to consciously slow myself down, which I do find difficult, but the muddy trails helped me reconnect with my inner snail π and I managed to run a whole 5 minutes slower than I usually do - today thatβs an achievement! π
Slow 5ks seem to be the thing today as I have just read that Instructor57 is also pleased with his π. Happy running all ππββοΈππΌ
It certainly is the day for 5k's, I've just written a post about mine π A brilliant run for you today, it takes practice and patience to slow down but it's so rewarding and effective! Very well done, good luck with the rest of your journey to 10k ππ
βTwangβ is definitely a word. Usually applied to guitar strings in my case. I hate it when it applies to bodies π¬. Glad you are recovered, and up and running again.
It looks beautiful and I'm glad your foot/ankle was ok. I love how we're all embracing slow and gentle at the moment! Just as well to stay safe on uneven and muddy surfaces (well that's one explanation for my snail pace). You're right though, it's still tempting to go faster than is good for us sometimes!
