So having been told to stay on the couch until my foot was better, I finally got the go-ahead to run this week. Carefully, slowly, and maybe walk run. And no more than twice a week. Woohoo!
(I had nerve damage in my left foot, caused by compensating for a weak right hip and glutes.)
Wednesday was my first run. I tried c25k run 5 week 1, which is 3x5 minutes of running, with walking intervals. I finished it, but made the decision to try a week 4 run next time ๐ฌ๐ต
And that was today! Much more manageable, I took all my snails with me, and a tortoise or two to be sure.
Foot was perfectly fine, hip a bit achey, until I adjusted my posture. Could also feel right thigh muscles and glutes complaining, so hopefully that means I'm using them better now. I remembered my post run stretches, and all is now well. I suspect it will be a while before I'm up to 5k again, so I might mosey on over to the c25k forum for a while ๐๐๐๐๐

So glad to know that you are recovering from injury and carefully restarting runs from C25K, perhaps you should have restarted with week 4 and built up to week 5 but you seem OK without any further problems. Good that you are also doing your post run stretches. ๐
Congratulations for getting back out and with a run which suits you. A gradual increase in running will hopefully prevent further injury. Happy running whichever forum you are on.
Welcome back!!! There have been a few aches and pains plus chesty coughs around grumps, so many of us are on the comeback trail. The old formula is the best; really steady and not too far, but you clearly know that. I walked two hills in my run today...actually walked ๐ณ . Turns out it wasnโt much slower than running and VO2 max went up one๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐๐
Lovely news Gog!๐... it must be so nice to don your running gear and go out again. Good to hear nothing complained too much. Gently does it though. I think I will start with Wk1 when I come back, having had that false start in November.
How long did it take your foot injury to heal?
Hang out on both forums so we can share your run reports and cheer you on.๐xxx
Thanks bbr, I'll definitely go easy, it's taken long enough! Injured my foot back in November I think, started seeing my physio in January when it hadn't got better despite resting it. It's been 5 weeks since then. Don't think I'll ever be free of niggles though, it's just a case of of balancing the fine line between keeping mobile and doing too much. Lots more strengthening still required!
Going back to week 1 might be wise given my experience, I was pretty fit when I stopped in November, and I'm certainly not now ๐ฌ
Good luck! I went all the way back to W1 after my foot injury. I was just so pleased to be back out there. Don't feel you have to leave this forum though - it's good for everyone to see it's possible to come back with patience. Everyone will be cheering you back to your previous level of fitness. Take your time and enjoy every minute of being back ๐๐
