Great to be back

After a long difficult year, Mr H-G health issues, retirals and a house move, I have eventually got back to running. Very sporadic initially and since 2022, 3 times a week. Managed a fairly sedate 6k today in glorious weather here in Perthshire so pleased. Have been reading all your amazing posts and it was a particular one from Diane Birdlady64 that particularly inspired me. Thank you. Also joined the local running club and they have been a huge help. Hopefully going to be able to read, support and take part in everything once again.🤞🏃‍♀️😁

Yay, well done! I've had a difficult year too with injury sustained last March and which finally seems sorted - tendinopathy, related to adductors. Initially I thought I'd fractured my pelvis, so painful. Anyway I've been told by Sports Doc 'no more running' so I'm doing loads of yoga. Good luck HG, I follow you so will get your posts. Enjoy retirement, it's the best thing I ever did! x

Welcome back! I would love to hear more about the running club. How is that working out? Are there any members of Team Snail in there?

Hi Fiona, great to hear from you. Thanks for your welcome back. The RC is a work in progress, I’m currently taking part in an intro to running club class. This is 60mins long and includes intervals, hills etc. etc.😱 trying hard and getting there, with regard to speed they are very accommodating. (Just as well) 🤣

Hi Hareshaw-Granny Welcome back!Sounds like you've had your hands full this year, but well done on getting out there and doing what you can.

I'm a long way off managing 6k right now, but I'm making slow & steady progress. As long as everything is headed in the right direction I'm good. Just happy to b back out there again.

I hope Mr H-G is doing OK. Happy retirement, and happy running 😀🏃‍♀️

Great to hear from you and to be back. Good news re your recovery and am v impressed how patient you’re being about building up again. It’s absolutely the right way to go. I’m not that patient and tried the short intervals of c25k and found them v frustrating. My legs just wanted to do more. I’m being careful and can’t run fast anyway😂. So far so good. Hubby staying strong but about to embark on a 37 session course of radiotherapy. Retirement here in Auchterarder is good, we have always wanted to move to Perthshire. Just 10 mins from the Argaty red kite reserve. Will be visiting once the weather warms up. Happy and careful running. 👍

Yes - the intervals are a bit annoying. I found it took much longer for me to "get into" the run, by which point it was done! I'm on w6 r2 so no more intervals after that. Red kites are such wonderful birds - so graceful in flight.

Sending all best wishes to hubby - and to you of course. The running will help I'm certain.

Welcome back from what looks like beyond the looking glass. Or was it something to do with a visit to the distillery there? 😉

Just a complete ‘reflection’ on my abilities at selfies😂. Unfortunately the Tullibardine distillery is not actually in Tullibardine but in Blackford, which is a few miles away, what a shame as it would have made a brilliant place to stop mid run for a wee dram🥃. Great to read your posts re RED January and all your other v prolific achievements.👍

Hello!! 👋🙋🏽‍♀️ Three times per week sounds awesome! And sedate 6ks sounds delicious! And local running club, my oh my, it sounds like it’s all go again! 💪🚀

We all have ups and downs in our running journeys, so am waving to you from the IC! Great to see your post again!

Thank you, but so sorry to hear that you’re on the IC for the moment. Hope it’s not for too long. BTW don’t be too impressed, the local RC is a work in progress where I think they’re being very kind to the oldish newbie 🤭.
