After only running once in the whole of June I have now doubled my achievement for that month!
Being at home is making all the difference. We know the paths, where they go, what condition they'll be in. It's lovely and flat. There's a choice of routes, not just one. And best of all, the scenery is lovely, especially at this time of year. We run past fields of ripe oats and barley, it strikes a primal chord that the farmer's barns will be full and there will be food in the winter.
Just 3kms but who knows, maybe I'll do Parkrun on Saturday?

I rarely go away because I so love where I live (the Loire Valley near Blois between Tours and Orleans on the north bank of the river). So many nice paths to run along. Easy to choose a climb by running away from the river, or flat by running along the river. Lovely countryside. When I visit UK I stay in Rugby in Warwickshire, then I tend to run around the Draycote reservoir.
The Loire is so beautiful, we are in the process of taking our boat from Honfleur to Marseilles, so travelled the beautiful Canal latéral à la Loire. I think if I lived there I'd be tempted to stay put too!
it’s so beautiful to see the fields so vibrant! You’re right about being on your own turf so to speak.
I love running round where I live. It’s all fields, farms , farm tracks ,and if you go down the inclines you know that eventually you will go up them But at least you how to gauge all the bends , inclines, blind spots in the lanes etc. I ran in a 10k race in May and although we were told that the roads were flat…..they weren’t. The roads were very undulating, and it was a very hot day to top it all aswell. Of course some of us didn’t know the route so that was a nightmare too. However we got round and that was all good. I just love exploring new places and have recently found other routes ( thanks to my husband finding them. Then we did a recce in the car) to run which is further a field. I just love it.😂😂🥰.
Thanks Folkylass . When I did a 10k it was on my home turf, but the woman I was running with didn't know it at all. As we neared the end, a path I run practically every time I go out, she got a bit anxious as it was narrow, along the top of the sea wall. I suppose if you've never been there before you might be thinking 'What fresh hell is this?'
