So yesterday morning was a calm quiet one without the icy winds of the last runs, consequently I managed to achieve 5K in 33.39 minutes. I read an article yesterday where it gave average times for C25K - for a female of my age (53), I think it said 40 (?) minutes, which means I’m doing better than average. I’m two weeks post graduation, so I’m very happy with this result, given that I was never a sporty person, ever, and now look what I can do 😁
Here’s the link: now that I’ve reread it, it looks like the average women doesn’t run 5K in 30 minutes! Surely that isn’t accurate?! Is it?healthline.com/health/exerc...

Congratulations on that 5K run, 41.20 I notice is the "average " time for a lady your age, however, if you look at the age grading of parkruns you would be way below 50% which I consider as average for any age at parkrun, but don't bother too much about that, you did very well in your run today. 😊 🏃🏾
Thanks, I didn’t think about the park runs, that’s a perfectly legitimate comparison tool. I know I shouldn’t be too concerned about speed, but it’s just the newness of actually being able to do 5K that got me curious as to how I ranked.
A great 5k and a really good time. Well done you 👏 👏
Be super proud and don't worry about comparisons. 👍
Totally accurate, 5k takes me around 45 minutes although one magical day i ran it in 40 minutes although never to be repeated so far I going to have a look at your link now
Well done you. Since graduating a couple of weeks ago I am also seeing my 5k times come down but not cracked 34mins yet (34.10 being my fastest). Was always a goal to be able to match the average for my age group which I have now done. I find setting such targets is essential to give me the reason to get out there….I guess we all need to find our own methods of self-motivation!
Great going! Mine are fluctuating a bit, jumped from 37 to 33 then 34 yesterday. I’m doing a shorter run once a week at the minute too so that I’m not over pushing myself every run. There’s been milder weather conditions and less wind this post week and that has helped me a lot. I was getting fed up battling the wind chill the week before. I’ve also started listening to podcasts rather than music the last two runs, not sure if that affects my pace or not. Anyway, we’re out and we’re running so keep up the good work 👍🏻
