Hi all, I'm a long way from the bridge but I thought I'd pop by and let you know how I'm doing. It's taken me months of slow progress (and sometimes no progress) since I restarted c25k after breaking my ankle last June, but I'm now round about week 5 π₯³
Week 5 is problematic for me because of the ramping up of running times in each run - from 3x5 to 2x8 to 1x20. For me, that's too much. So, I've done r1, then r1 with an extra 5 minutes run, then with an extra 3 on top of that... You get the picture.
My latest run was yesterday - a run in the woods through the rain showers, but I ran 4x6 minutes, with 2m30s walking. With the final walk back to the car, I covered 4.5k, and I can't tell you how good it feels to be back on my old routes, with 5k looking like a distinct possibility, at some point. I think I might need a new pair of trainersπ
Photo is the woods but on a less soggy day - back in the spring π

Great progress, that 5k will be run or jeffed and we will wave pom poms and cheer you home. It was rotten bad luck to break a bone and recovery takes ages but I am so pleased you can run again x
Glad to hear you're recovering, it always takes so much longer than you think. Go for the new shoes - if your old ones are on the way out the lack of support can injure your ankles (this is the voice of bitter experience). That'd be the last thing you need. You can always offset the cost of extra physio from the cost of the trainers!!
To be fair I don't need too much encouragement Obk, it's only now that I'm running for a bit longer I've noticed that they are not so springy as they once were. They've lasted longer than they should have because of my catalogue of injuriesπ¬ so I'll be happy to follow your adviceπ
Hi Gog, it's great to hear you are doing so well with your comeback, and super idea to tailor the plan to fit in with your steady building up. Good luck as you move onwards and as IP says that 5k is just there....π€πββοΈππ»π»πΉπΉxxx
Iβm so glad youβre doing so well with getting back into your running again Gog, and it sounds as though you have a good plan for getting there! New shoes are a must I should think!
Hello notgrumpy, Apologies for the delay in my reply. I am so pleased to read that progress is being made with your running and I do hope more progress has happened since this post of 11 days ago. ππ»ββοΈπ
Only a little bit of progress, life has got in the way somewhat - having to drive more than I should, and that means having to rest up afterwards. It's not stopping me though, just slowing me down , and fingers crossed is temporary.
