Another Russian run

My husband arranged to meet his pal Andrey who runs the local Parkrun this morning. Andrey is a very keen runner, half marathons etc for breakfast. He usually runs around 5 or 6 am before work but wanted to join us so ran a bit later today.

I was ready by 9 but we hadn't managed to get in touch with Andrey to tell him where and when. I decided I'd do some intervals so we walked to the стадион and were just about to get started when we saw a runner in a fluorescent jacket in the distance. Andrey! He suggested 5k so off we went. I warned him I was very slow. I didn't mention that I've never seen husband run 5k...

We set off down roads and paths through pine forests in the beautiful autumn sunshine. Andrey very considerately kept his speed down (I checked him on Strava and his last run was 12+km at 5:30/km). He and husband were chatting away the whole time so I knew my other half was running at a conversational pace!

As we got back to our starting point it turned out we did 8:18/km compared to my usual 8:30 or 8:40 so maybe I can push myself a bit harder next time I'm out.

I think I'm on a runner's high! Certainly beats sitting around drinking vodka and eating salty fish :)

PS picture is from Monday, me running away from the kids and dog lol

Haha 😂 I love the photo of you running away! But the question is, did you come back again?

Sounds and looks a fab run!

I can't keep away from those lads for long ❤️

😊 I’m enjoying reading about your tourist runs. What a great photo - made me smile as it reminds me of my runs and walks in the woods around my home. Beautiful autumn colours in Russia too 🍂 ☺️.

That sounds really nice. I've never run with other people, or in the woods. I'd like to do both at some point.

Well done everyone! Sounds as though you all enjoyed yourself and you also knocked a bit off your time 😁. When I look at my brother’s running stats on Strava my eyes literally water, Andrey sounds like a great running buddy 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️.

Yes, I'm amazed how he's able to run slowly enough to accommodate tortoise me
