A terrible run

I wasn't expecting my run to be easy as I haven't managed to run for 2 weeks BUT.... I didn't think it would be that hard! Every step was sluggish and heavy and I wanted to stop all the time. Well I managed just short of 5K and was quite pleased with that considering. Whilst in the shower afterwards I was pondering on why it was so hard and then it dawned on me. I had run in my old gardening trainers 😄, I had put them on automatically and I still didn't notice when I took them off at the end! I'm sure that isn't the only reason why I found it tough but I'm sure it didn't help. My trainers look holey, tatty and very grubby. I think I looked quite sad running along.

Have a great weekend and note to self take more notice when putting trainers on. 🤔

I think you should go for a gait analysis and buy a new pair of shoes, apart from that, your run today was ok

I do have a pair of trainers to run in, I just absent mindedly put my gardening trainers on 🙄. However, on my list of things to do is to go for a gait analysis and buy a better pair of trainers for running. I'm hoping that a more suited pair of trainers will help me further 👍

Garden gate analysis, then? 🤣

Knowing me that's probably what I'll get 😆

Or maybe people will have looked at your feet and thought, ‘woah, look at those tatty trainers - she’s obviously an amazing seasoned runner!’

So funny you didn’t notice, even when taking them off! ☺️ Were you quite distracted perhaps? Sometimes I have runs on autopilot because there’s too much going on in my head ☺️

Definitely got a lot going on at the moment but I was also rushing to try and finish my run before the local schools kicked out. Last thing I wanted was for a bunch of teenagers witnessing a middle aged duffer plodding around 😆

At least you weren't trying to run in wellies!

There's a load of things that can affect a run including how well you slept, how well hydrated you are and what you've eaten. So, some runs will feel great, others not so great.

Well done for getting through it despite it not feeling great.

🤣🤣😃 oh well done for running in your garden trainers ! I first read too quickly and mis-read as garden wellies! 🤣🤣

I do wonder how runners with multiple shoes switch between them, as I gravitate to my favourite ones. (But only have an old and new pair).

I have gardening old trainers, everyday trainers for shopping and walking plus my runners. All kept in different places but still didn't help me from getting confused 🙄

Sorry your run was a tough one 🥵I had one like that yesterday. I’d felt wiped out all week and hadn’t run since the Thursday before. I had no excuse tho as I was wearing my brand new running shoes 😂. Hope the change of shoes does the trick next time.

I'm sure things will be a little easier in my runners 👍
