Post run exhilaration!

I have completed c25 twice this year!

After my first graduation I completed 12 weeks consolidation runs of 3 x 30mins with 2 x 5min walks, weekly then a health scare literally stopped me in my tracks! All is fine but it took several weeks to get results & during that time I lost the incentive to run

Took me a while & a lot of talking to but I started again late July whizzing through c25 with a run every other day so re graduated a lot quicker this time

I set a goal of the 5km race for life (last Sunday) -it was my 25th year of taking part & I was determined to run the route this year - managed it in 40mins - I’m 63.5, it was hot & my watch said it was 3.6miles! But anyway I’ve learnt through this site it’s not all about speed - kept on running!

Then, no runs - all week; put the time to one side, downloaded more music I like, downloaded some 30min runs on Nike app all to no avail I just could muster the energy

So I’m very chuffed to say I have just completed a 30min run, in rain showers & cut it fine - got back just before dusk

I’m not sure if this is good advice but worked for me, I gave myself loads of short milestones on route - I’ll run to next field gate - then next large oak tree etc etc told myself its ok to walk home at least I’m doing it etc. drafted in my head what I’d write here! & before I knew it I was home

Happy running thank you everyone for your inspiration

Good for you and really well done on the Race For Life 👍 Twenty five years is very impressive!

It sounds as if your routine is working well for you and I can imagine that the time goes quicker looking for the various milestones. More fun too 🤗

Well done on your runs! We're the same age, like you say we've gotta keep running!

Great to hear that you got back to it. I am restarting after 6 weeks off and pleased to hear that others have done it successfully. X
