To run in a 4 person relay team in the Manchester marathon in 10 days time.

The charity that organised the run has had loads drop out (the event was scheduled for spring last year), and like the kid who’s picked last at school football - I got the call last night.

Not run a 10 for around 7 weeks, so thought I’d best get a couple in. Here’s the results of todays effort - it follows 2 back to back 5k’s so keeping fingers crossed I haven’t over done it. What’s that 10% rule again? 😆

Going to try and fit a couple of 10’s and a 5 in until around Thursday next week, then chill out for a bit.

Never done a group run, am nervous and excited at the same time.

Good luck with your relay !And seeing as you asked , the 10% rule would be to not increase your distance beyond 10% of your previous week's total.

I notice the run was positive splits !

This may be as a result of being tired from the 2 back to back 5k' s ?? 🤔

That and I always set off too fast, and the hills are in the later stages of the runs. Tried the neg split and just can’t get it right…

The 10% comment was tongue in cheek as I’d be on zero km as I had a virtual barren week last week. Was supposed to be a rest day today, but time is short and I’m unfit….

All appears good, couple of days off then a 10 on Sunday hopefully.

Make sure you get the quarter with downhills! 😁

I wouldn’t worry about the splits given the hill at the end but the HR may be on the high side over the course of that run. Were you racing it? I’m no expert on HR though.

Enjoy the relay, Reggit.
