It's been a funny old week! Lack of sleep and a very painful finger but garden centres, walks, runs, and beachfront baskets of cheesy chips with friends, it's a great life really this being retired. I thought my finger pain was a flare up of psoriasis, but turns out it's gout!!! Gout ๐ฎ me? Flipping heck,
Anyway, this morning I'm volunteering at parkrun, I'm going to be a Marshall and I'm going to wear a high Vis vest ๐ you wouldn't believe how excited I was when I woke up ๐
And it was great fun, really great to be part of something, I've cheered and clapped everyone on the way out and again on the way back. I'm making new friends, and discussing running, times, distances and pace with people who do run and are interested.
Afterwards I met my neighbour and ran 5k, I entered this as a (not) parkrun at 47:09 which is slower than last week but the sun shone so I'm happy, she ran a week 4 run of C25K and we both came home happy and chatting.
I would have never found this forum without C25k, I'd have never have found parkrun without this forum so thank you everyone here for opening my eyes to what a wonderful community runners are.
Run happy or rest well

Ah the magic of parkrun, whether volunteering or running, it completely changes your Saturday morning. You can thank Sandie1961 for running at Worthing parkrun for getting you involved. Iโm so glad you liked it as much as we all do. Just the purple T-shirt to aim for now. ๐
Yes, I enjoyed volunteering, and appreciate both Sandie1961 and Mudita11 for being supportive for my first one.our numbers were up by over 100 this morning because Worthing was cancelled, and you are right Dexy, I'm making new friends already.....
Thatโs good youโre enjoying Parkrun and also your friend is as well. I forgot about putting my walks into not parkrun.. Iโve done a few 5 km as well . Thanks for the reminder. Usually I am the only one that registers walks for not parkrun , everyone else out there running or walking it.
Vit C, water with lemons in, cherries, yup I'm taking all those, the swelling has gone down a lot and most of the pain gone now, it did knock me for 6 for a couple of days though.
I am so pleased to see that youโre enjoying being part of the park run community! I also enjoying marshalling and have made lots of new friends too. Letโs keep going!
It's a very welcoming community isn't it? Enjoy yours, the first week I was surprised people clapped and encouraged me as I ran past, this weekend I so enjoyed clapping and encouraging others
