Look what Willow got!

After his knee giving way at the beginning of our run the other day and waiting in the car for the whole run Willow was in a lot of pain and a bit despondent.

So I google best shoes for knee pain…..He had a gait analysis last year and his shoes have done him well, the ones i bought i thought a waste of money, so am on the fence when it comes to gait analysis, I do know they are recommended though.

Anyway lured by their returns policy I ordered a pair of Brooks Beast and sat back smugly.

Willow actually got a bit cross with me, whoops 😬 and ordered that I cancel them, he never gets cross so I was a bit surprised!

Anyway I explained the returns policy and talked him round. They turned up today.

They look good 👍

They fit 👍

They feel comfortable 👍

They feel supportive 👍

Tomorrow he will go out for a short try them out run and see what happens.

And if his knee gives way back in the post they will go

I’m a big fan of Brooks WillowandSola, but everyone’s different. I hope Willow gets on well with them, if not there’s always the returns policy as you say. I’ve always had great service from Brooks so I’ll stick with them for my next road running shoes. 😀🏃‍♂️

thank you, he says they are really comfy but it’ll depend on how they are when he runs that’ll prove whether they suit him or not

My Brooks Glycerin are still relatively new but they are amazingly comfortable and had no issues so far 👌🏻 hopefully willow has a good experience with these 🤞🏻

I buy 1 pair per year. Works out at good value. I don’t spend much on running other than 1 pair of new shoes per year.

Same as Willow but I wear trainers to work so have several pairs, last years expensive runners are still going strong and i have a couple pairs just for running and a couple pairs just for work, strangely enough i run faster in Reeboks 😀

When I retire a pair they then become my everyday casual runners. I recently retired one of those to the bin.

I had a pair fall to pieces and another pair had got smooth on the soles they retired in the bin, get very fond of them though, I don’t wear the runners to work but sometimes i’m lazy and wear the work ones for a quick after work run. Going back to the brooks though, i view them like a garmin, something i’ve yearned for for a while and one day may have, the garmin was my best present to date

I hope Willow likes his new shoes Sola. Brooks do have the best customer service when you buy direct from them. Our independent running shop offers returns on all brands and give excellent advice when things go wrong.

It might be worth getting expert medical or physio advice if his knee goes again.

His knee is an old injury that we found responded well to decent shoes after gait analysis last year, we know from experience that when his shoes wear down the issue returns, Try seeing doctor lately all they want to do is jab you with something or send you some antibiotics ‘just in case’ certainly not spend time looking at a dodgy knee

yes I understand that a GP might not be much help, but a sports physio might be able to give a set of exercises to strengthen any weakness. I have found them to be well worth their fee.

They might well, we’ll see how the shoes go first though, he really over pronates and with good shoes they straighten him up, he’s got good insoles too which make a difference, the day his knee was really painful he had put his running shoes on without insoles and when we came home and looked at the shoes they are worn quite smooth so time for new

Good tactics! I can understand why Willow got humpy but brilliant that you talked him round. Brooks might get him back on. The trail! My wife got a pair of Brooks as their return policy is amazing. She has changed them once and is enjoying the new pair. I might get a pair myself as I’m sure my shoes are wearing out…

I'm running enough distance now that I'll need to change my shoes every 8 months or so. I've still got a little bit of wear left in my current pair, which have done 685km according to Garmin.

Those soles look very thick to me. 😉
