Hi up early was raining kitted out on baseball hat and jacket so didn’t get too wet, baseball hat a blessing , hate wet hair. Did a 1min run/7 min walk because of my osteo but was ok, not pushing my luck . My time was 58:50 with my 5km at 46:41. Enjoyed it but Spotify was on the blink podcasts stopped and music as well , sorted now. Joined Strava and became local legend on one segment but probably not for long as have been going out walking 4km most mornings same route . Mr D did a 5km not parkrun. 28:33 , another record for him . 😊

Funny thing about Local Legends, Doris, I created a new segment on Strava last week, it’s along one of my favourite routes, because it seemed such an obvious segment but wasn’t one. Three runs later and I was told I’m the Local Legend! I’m guessing no one yet knows it’s a segment.
Shame about Spotify but you got out and ran. Nice time for Mr. D.🙂
I hate wet hair too, but I keep forgetting the hat😂Shame about your Spotify, it would have taken your mind off the rain. I've given up trying to run with music - I kept getting myself in a pickle with it, then realised that actually I like the quiet - which is odd, because I have TV or radio on a lot at home, I don't like a quiet house.
Do you find that the run/walking helps you with your OA? It's affecting my hands but not anywhere else as yet. I'm redoing c25k after breaking my ankle, and I have to really take my time increasing the run sections. I've reached week 4 and I'm adding extra run/walks to the end to increase the overall time. There's no way I'll be able to run the 20 minute run in week 5, so I'll have to make something up!
Hi I have both osteoporosis and osteoarthritis and am taking it easy because of the osteoporosis, not doing it too much the running part , maybe twice a week. I know that the walking will help.walk most days to keep joints moving. I’m not sure if I could do the c25 k might be too much running in it . As u say take it easy and build up even if u have to repeat the same week again especially with your ankle.
Sounds like you've worked out a good strategy, I had osteopenia a few years back which is one of the reasons I started running, and there's no sign of it now, so if you take it carefully as you are, it should really help you. Agree with the amount of running in the c25k, it's taken me more weeks than I can count to get this far, I've repeated and repeated, and added extra weeks to ramp up more gently. I might just start adding extra run/walk sections and build up the distance that way.
Well done! And good idea not to push it, better safe than sorry!
