Since starting to run longer distances, I’ve noticed an ache developing on the outside edge of my foot alongside the arch of my foot.

Discomfort on the outside edge of my foot/alongside the arch of my foot…any thoughts what might be causing it?

Could be many, many things.
How old are your shoes?
Are they the right shoes for your running style?
I would definitely have an extra day off, do some foot mobility exercises (could just be foot muscles that aren't used to this much work) also roll the arch on a tennis ball or pastry roller to ease any tension.
If you can, consider an appt with a sports physio to make sure there's nothing brewing.
Hi, shoes are relatively new and fitted after gait analysis at sport shoe shop. I’ll definitely try the tennis ball ( if my dog doesn’t steal it). Next run planned for Thursday so I’ll see how it feels. I’ll definitely try and find sport physio if it doesn’t improve. 😊 thanks
Use the tennis ball on both feet and see if the painful one feels tighter. It could well just be a tight fascia which you can massage yourself both with the ball and your hands.
Tennis ball + Labrador => lots of fluff and chunks of rubber all over the place

Shoes are quite new, just a few months. Gradually moving from 5K 500m per week.
