Hi guys !! Another day ,another run ? Not really ,because I pulverized my best 5K time by .......... 2 minutes 56 seconds, in a time of 30:47 !!! I wasn,t initially aiming for a pb just an easy pace run of about 37 minutes , but with the feel good factor of new running gear and at 2K in feeling a good time was on today , I pushed it !! All negative splits as well with the last K run in 5:26 ; so very pleased with the inroads that have been possible since incorporating some speed work recently. Two days off now before a 5K on Wednesday, which will be definitely an easy pace session, before B,ham great run in a weeks time .

Fantastic and many congratulations. Interval sessions and speed work really do pay off. That’s a brilliant improvement. Your going to a sub 30 minute 5k time very soon at that rate. Well done and keep it going.

Thanks Damienair !l I sort of felt that my previous pb was there for the taking even before today but was amazed that such a chunk would come away the first time of asking !! Well aware that such will not be the norm from now on in but perhaps a few seconds here and there , and thats fine !! My easy pace runs I feel , can now perhaps be run a tad quicker but still at 'coversational level' of effort .Ye I,m buzzing !!!!!

I did interval training from January to April and managed to go from a 32 min Parkrun to a 26:30 min Parkrun. I’m going for a 25 minute time. This morning I went out early with a local run group and did 12.5 km’s at a nice easy 6:15 min/km pace and comfortably chatting all the way. 3 months ago I could not have dreamed I’d be able to run 12K. 2 years ago after doing C25k I was delighted with a 39 min 5k.

Nice going Damienair !! Good times too !! Carving off so much time from your pb must have felt so good ! My ultimate goal is to run a 28:45 , don,t know why specifically, but it feels like it has my name on it !! At present 10K is run with my wife so I use this for a little interval training mid run and return to her as she jogs along . No great ambition for this distance re pb at present , but no doubt times will continue to fall as a consequence of other aspects of my training !! Your 6:15 easy pace for 12.5K is commendable, as thats ,more or less, the pace I ran today !!- you,ll smash through that 25 minute barrier !!

Hopefully JP !! Easing off a little with the intensity just now, as my knees are giving me the 'heads up' that they are ready for some TLC over these next 5-6 days !! Will pick up with the interval training post B,ham run on sunday , and head for the line with a sub 30 ! Reminding myself to keep the enjoyment factor high so that this here running thing stays on its feet !!

Sub 30 is looking close now Fit4life.

In the week before my Bristol 10k I followed the simplyhealth advice of a 30 min , 20 min, and 10 min in the last week. I felt really fresh on the day of the race. Good luck to you both. You’ll love it. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
