5k and foot is fine!

Got out this morning before it was too warm, and the extra rest seems to have done the trick. Wore my regular running shoes and foot is just fine. My quads on the other hand are in uproar, after two days of heavy weeding 😲 Lots of extra stretching required I think 😁

Glad to hear it Grumps. Not sure that weeding is in the cross training plan though; could be a code violation! I don't want my OH getting the idea that I can be expected to run and weed!😊

It certainly is not in the plan, it did me no good at all! Garden looks better for it though πŸ˜‚

You could combine weeding with squats! Good to hear things are improving for you.

Thanks dexy5, hmm, squats, my favourite! I can picture it now. Ooh it's not pretty πŸ˜‚

So glad that you enjoyed your 5K run today, nice that your foot is fine, apart from your quads the run was very enjoyable, more stretching before the next runπŸ˜ŠπŸƒ

Definitely Al, I always overdo it once I start gardening. I might learn one day!

That gardening stuff is really dangerous. 😱 The only injury I’ve had was from too much gardening very early in the season. You Have Been Warned! 🀣🀣 (But glad to hear the foot is better. πŸ‘πŸ˜Š)

I'll bear that in mind GS! (It's usually my back I have to watch when I'm gardening. I broke a garden fork digging when I hit a flint. The soil here is about 50% flint.) I'll stick to the running for a while 😁

Gardening really nobbles my legs too .

I posted something about it once, Irishprincess suggested that I stretch after. Which I'm sure would work, except that I really dislike gardening and seem to be inefficient at stretching.

I need to practice.

I hope that your uproarious quads settle soon. 😊

Thanks jell, you're quite right but I never remember at the time 😳. I stay out there far too long, then look at my watch, think Aaargh! I've got two minutes to do the washing/get dinner on/ get changed! Then I wake up the next morning and wonder why I'm too stiff to moveπŸ˜‚ I remember Irishprincess also suffering a gardening incident, she speaks with the voice of experience. Pilates later, that will sort me out.

Oh no! I get 'weeder's back & hamstrings' too! Even though I stretch regularly it takes me a couple of days before I run again after doing a lot of work at our allotment. Glad the foot is better. πŸ™‚

Ah, not just me then 😊 thanks slinky, hope you are fit and well at the moment too x

I'm on holiday in France but it's so hot that I've only run once - very hilly too! My dodgy biomechanics are still an issue so I'm going to bite the bullet and get a podiatrist assessment when I'm back. But I'll still need to run off my baguette & fromage belly!! πŸ˜†

I too am suffering from β€œback on couch due to gardening.” I’d planned to run this morning as I finally had a day free. I’m struggling to fit in runs round work already 🀣. But foolishly I thought I’d do a β€œ little bit of pruning” in the garden at 5 yesterday evening....just a little bit before I cooked tea...and when I looked at my watch next it was 7 o’clock!!! I had 9 bags of trimmings and weeds and was starving. Garden looks better but I was aching. So I put tea on to cook and had a shower. And made myself chill for rest of evening. Early night and this morning ....I could barely straighten up. Neck, head and shoulders aching from weed pulling and clipping , lower back and ankles from bending to chop at jasmine roots . ☹️

So hot shower, lots of stretches and ibuprofen and taking today easy with my daughter. And maybe second Park Run tomorrow??

Lol at "little bit of pruning", that's how it starts 🀣🀣🀣
