Hi Everyone,

I’m running a 7k for Charity in October. I’m currently running 2 7k’s and a park run every week. How many days before the event day would you advise running to get my best performance on the day?

Cheers in advance👍🏻

Mark.

Hi,

The event is on Sunday morning.

My suggestion is to skip parkrun that week, and maybe have two rest days before the event.

You might also want to reduce the distance of the last run before the event, maybe to 5km.

Good luck to you for your 7K Charity Run in October, your training is going very well indeed, perhaps give two days off running before the big day, some runners run a longer run before a race, but that's up to you if you wish to do that, so whatever the distance your last training run should be two days before the race.

Sounds to me as if you are already effectively running that charity run distance each week, so really you have to decide whether missing park run that week is the best idea, if you’re not used to running consecutive days then I’d say yes miss park run that week. Enjoy your event and well done running for charity. Happy running 🤗

If you’ve got your fitness level up and ready for it you won’t lose that over a few days rest. I reckon what you don’t want is to pick up a niggle or injury and no time to recover. So I would agree with missing the parkrun before the charity race, just to be on the safe side.

Best of luck!

As you are running regularly then your fitness should be good. I'd make your last easy run on Thursday. Have fun and keep some in hand for a fast finish! Good Luck
