Well, Im convinced the Park Run stop watch must have been wrong, but thats what the results tell me!!
damienair - you said ages ago running in Parkrun would help increase my pace and speed and I just can't believe the difference it makes running with other people, and yes there is a side of me that is quite competative, and today I beat a couple of people Ive had in my sights since my second Park Run!! π
id only managed to get a sub 30 for my 5Km running on my own and yes Ive worked really hard at pacing myself but never thought I could do this time, Im so chuffed!!
Thank you to everyone on here with your words of wisdom and advice on running techniques. To think this time last year I hadn't long completed the C25K and was only just manging to run 5km at approx 35 mins.

Glad to hear you are enjoying parkrun hedgehogs. Mistakes do sometimes happen with timings as many volunteers are included in the process, or sometimes runners donβt take a token. But we take the good mistakes as well as the ones that show us slower. π
I always start my watch at the start line and stop it as I finish so I have a true 5k record as well. My friend starts hers at the hooter so she always knows what her exact parkrun time should be. Or you can just say I love parkrun and the time doesnβt matter at all.
I knew I'd done somewhere around 27mins as I started Strava and my watch and I knew I was running each km a bit faster than I normally do, so wasn't quite sure when I finished what my exact time was. I've worked really hard each week on trying to get my pace right and each week my time has improved. Plus there's a lady in my age category who beats me every week and she just absolutely zooms past, so I had her in my sight to try and make sure I could see her all the way round! But you're right, I it's mainly just doing them, I am truly addicted to ParkRun and thought I'd just do the odd one, but I really forward to every Saturday! I will also take my turn at being a volunteer too, as I think it's only fair.
Yes you get to know your targets as the weeks go on, and share a laugh with them at the end. Yes volunteering is fun too and Iβve made good friends volunteering at parkrun.
