Oh the pain!

I’ve entered into my first ever 10k in October and I’m following Jujus magic 10k program. Just completed week 3 but on my last run my legs just ache from top to bottom. My shins hurt whilst running my knees hurt after running 🤦‍♀️ so iv started week 4 a little delayed to allow for rest but running just hurts. Iv had a gait analysis and got new shoes but just don’t know what to try next. Any advice?

Hi Jessabelle.

Did you get analysis and new shoes because of the pain or did the pain (on last run) only come with the new shoes?

And how important to you is the October event? It’s a bit of extra pressure for you now. Could you put it off until you’re pain free again and sure you can safely run a few 10ks?

Then you have to run it. I think professional assessment would be best, a sports physio. As soon as possible. 🙂

My advice would be to take a few days break, give your legs a bit of rest and recovery time, while you are resting your legs have a good think about your running, is it too fast? could you find a softer surface such as grass? are you drinking plenty of water every day? if you’ve finished C25k you know most of this but always worth reflecting. Also have you tried jeffing it? Good luck
